Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

ok i got an mpc 2000 not the xl and i want to send a sound from my mpc to my midi controller but when i do this the sound only goes to one key on my midi can someone plz tell me how to spread the sound over all the keys

you need to use the auto chrom features in the params section of your mpc. then the single sound u have opted for ( the one that will be spread across the keys ), will then be designated to its own PGM, which u can assign to a DRUM. ie DRUM2 if u have alreadu occupied Drum1 with percussion. choose the approate midi in to trigger the DRUM, i.e Midi 1a. then go sick on them ivorys.

The 2000 has no autochromatic function so what you will have to do is make 25 copies of the sample for each of these copies set the tune value (see pg 132) from -120 to 120 in steps of 10 (one semitone) assign these samples to these sounds to a program in increseasing tune value order and make sure the note value is also set in increasing order (page 96).
This program will give go 2 octaves of your sample that you can play from an external midi controller.
