MPC2000XL Trouble!?

I recently bought myself an MPC and I have noticed a fault....my pads 10 & 11 are impossible to seperate....e.g if I load a sample into pad 10 it automatically goes into pad 11 too....

Even if I go to the Program screen and try and put different samples on each of the two pads there....it does the same.....and it does it when I am using the pads to name things aswell....its almost like they are joined somehow....

So far its not bothered me enough to send it back to the company I bought it from because Ive always wanted an MPC and now I've got one I dont want to go through the hassle of parting with it for x amount of weeks....

Is this a common problem? how hard do you think it would be to sort it out?

if you bought it recently why dont you call the shop you bought it from and see if you can convince them to swap it over for a different one. (since your is still new)

maybe the shop will be will ing to swap them over instead of you having to send it back to akai.

just a suggestion....cos my shop does that

Sounds like a software bug. I would try reinstalling the OS if you can't take it back to the shop.

the reason i dont want to take it back is because I bought it Online and it would involve me having to package it all up and send it via courier etc....seems more hassle than its worth when everything else seems to work fine......lazy I know

How would I go about re-installing the OS? I didnt receive a disk with it or anything....

Initialize it. Go to Shift + Trim, then Shift + F1, I think that's right, I am not in front of my MPC. Try that before re-loading the OS, that could have been the past owners preference. They may have used this function for loading a hit-hat PGM. I meant to tell you yesterday, but either way should resolve your problem.

Mustard huh, I've never heard that one, haha. They are probably the same note. Change them to different midi notes and you should be fine.
