i just cant decide which one i wanna use for the dirty 12 bit sound with my mpc 1000, i have deals on the table for both with about the same price. It will probley come down to which one is eaiser to integrate into the setup. Basically all i want to to is sample into the machine then into the mpc so i want to chop on the mpc after the samples have gone through the eps or emax to get that dirty sound. Are they abotu the same or is one more adept to doing this? thanks

the eps has more effects and is similar to the asr whereas the emax resembles the sp (if i may take the freedom to say that :P)

The real question would be is it the EPS or the EPS16+?

Go for the Ensoniq.
It's more straight forward and the effects give it a lot of what makes it nice.
The Emax can sound grimey or normal but it's can be a bit to get around on.
You have to get pretty deep on it to really get some usage.

I don't know how deep you are on gear but if you want something fast and easy to use the SP303 is nice.
Not the low-fi sample but just the effects on it.
You could sample through it's effects or sample into it.

But between the two you are looking at the EPS 16+ would be the route to go for overall features and ease of use.

if you mean emax and not the 16-bit emax2 then id buy it but emax rack is quite big rack sampler. I think its more than 3 units.

but the EPS 16 is 16 bit not 12 as it seems Oxygen is looking for .

the EPs classic is 12 bit like the Emu Emax.

i would go for the ensoniq eps classic :=)

True but the sample rates and effects in the 16+ make it sound so gutter, even when compared to 12-bit samplers.

The biggest thing that's different between the EPS and EPS 16+ is the floppy drive, and stable O.S., and the effects.
As far as the sound the 16+ wasn't really clean 16-bit sounding since you have variable sample rates and the effects.

Those samplers are all capable of producing gritty samples and if thats all oxygen wants and not sample editing and effects then it doesnt really matter which one he buys because he can get good results with each of one of them.

True if he doesn't care about how much a headache the unit is to use.

actually the EPS is something as unusual as a 13bit sampler however that came about.
but some bits here or there wont matter much would it? :D

sorry for bumpin' this ol '06 thread, but I have to choose between these two monster, the EMAX KB and the EPS16 RACK !

I need to know which is "THE BEST" in term of reliability, I know the Eps tends to crash really often and eventually overwarm, but I know nothing about the emax. share you knwledge please !
