track velocity

hi.

is there a way to record velocity changes?

im thinking either with the sliders or with the volume next to the track select field?

it'd be nice to see the standard MIDI CC's added to the options you can select from in the Sliders section. velo, pan, cutoff, res etc (for MIDI)

There's no way to change the velocity of notes AFTER recording (unless you do them one by one).

During recording, you have a few options:

1. '16 Levels' assigned to velocity
2. Note Repeat - esnure 'Full Level' is OFF, and use the pads pressure to vary the velocity.
3. (my prefered method) - just get it right to begin with

I too would like to see midi cc# for the Q-Link assignment. Q-Link on Akai's Z-series samplers has them. Why can't we?

Isn't that what the AFTER key is for?


But I think dablunt was referring to recording a whole track's velocity at once. That's not that easy indeed.

I have a 1K which does the below, so I think that the 2K5 must also be able to do either:

(1) mixer volume automation

(2) sequence edit to re-scale velocities to all notes, or add(subtract) an offset to particular note velocities for parts (or all) of a sequence

Yes, that works with the 2500, but is kinda tricky to do. Cause if you record the mixer levels (you can even pull down the whole pad bank with the slider that way ), it leaves the volumes at that level when you stop the sequence. So if you pull the volume down, the next time you restart the sequence it will play on that low volume.

Anybody messing around a bit more with Mixer automation? What cool things can you do with it?

You should def be able assign CC's then.

The way I do it at the moment is, I rec the sequence and change the level on the midi hardware which the MPC can record in. If you have the midi cables setup ok.

But I would like onboard control on the MPC for next OS.

p.s. mixer automation is only for samples what are onboard the MPC. It doesnt send midi velo changes. So that isnt relevant in this thread!!

Well, you didn't mention you were talking about external MIDI devices in your first post.

By the way..anything inside the MPC is MIDI

But yea, the Q-Links should be able to control all sorts of CC's and effects settings.
