Ya i hear ya man, I've been through that ish. But get this, I was visiting my moms just this summer up in Oregon, and she brought me too a whole gang of thrift stores. I run into this one place called 'the gleamers' So i go to the record section and just start goin to town, and i eventually needed help luggin em all up the front counter. I had about 60 records so i figured.. like 30 maybe 40 bucks. After she counted em all up she looked at me and said '3 dollars!' It was one of the biggest record selections at a thrift store i've ever seen and they were a damn nickel apeice! Linn County, Oregon is the spot

Forget that spot bro there gonna sit and collect dust and be homes to spiders if that dude thinks he can sell em at the original retail. Tell him your doing him a favor by buyin em if you ever go back

u should a set it up in there.....

a couple yrs back a went to this spot on the northside of the chi....

these jerkoffs always standing over my shoulder telling me not to open the new wax (never have, not there anyway) and giving me a hard time in general over the listening station that is only accesable like 1/3 of the time their open for no fuking apparent reason

they offer a $10 off every $150 (keep an account number so everytime u make a small purchase it adds up til u get to 150)

I spend an hour and a half digging and walk up to the counter with about $80 worth of wax, i only needed like $20 to reach my $150, so i ask him if he can put the $10 off towards this purchase...son gets all irritated and instits it must be on a separate purchase, i say fine just ring up half of it...gimme the damn $10 certificate and i'll use it towards the rest of the wax, on another purchase

no he says, the purchase must be on a different date.....WTF?!?!?!??!

I argue, the manager comes over says the same bs and starts threating to kick me out...

(mind you, on the screen it shows how much i have spent at this store in the past.... well over $2K)

so i do what any normal person would do...

knock over the five stacks of used wax sitting on the counter the clerk was putting price tags on, tell the manager he's a fat fuk, knock over a rack of CDs, laugh as the cases break and tell them they wont be seeing me anytime soon.....BIT@HES!!!!!!!!!!!

man being on both side of this vinyl game i feel both sides but yeah this dude is trippin we dont even charge that much for are records ..only the real rare shi+ but those seem to be prett comon stuff you can find that stuiff at another thirft for .25 to 1 dollar. i would have prolly just left the stack there and walked out.but yeah if he would have said

he also said to me how much am i willin to sacrafice for my art
i would have snapped. first off you should not go in there saying your using these records to sample thats probably why he chagred so much. but you dont walk in to a record store and say you sample just say you collect or you ejoy the sound of vinyl.

yeah fuc dude he will sit on his records for a long time he will kick himself in the ass later for being an ass.

i can't say that i have ever had a bad exprience diggin maybe just being to hot and in the sun, but i always ask the price of vinyl before i get into deep i need to buget what i'm gon to dig out, i guess it comes with time and more expirence.
you will learn as you go
dont trip you'll get those records sooner or later and in much better condition watch.

jaem i feel like doin that when i walk into a CD store only.
got to watch that temper boy it's gonna getcha. my son is this way and i have to deal with it all the time it pisses me off.
would hate to hear your innthe can for something like that man.

peace

I guess I'm lucky, I always get the deal.

Although, one time at a good will, a real old(85+) lady working the register looke upset when I walked up to the register with a giant stack, then stuttered when saying LP's were $2 apiece... :(

I could see she felt bad as she was doing it, like she new she f#@ked up, but she still didn't like me buying all those records. :? :(

I had bought lots of old dusties in the same good will before, so I new they were .50 apiece.

I told her they were .50 each, and she just got uncomfortable, and looked around herself, mumbling "well...I....that's what I....."... like something was going to suddenly make them $2 each.

I just smiled, and politely told her, they were .50 cent each.

The other, younger old lady at the other register overhears us, and comes over, and corrects her, and starts counting the stack...

...the whole time, the older(85+) lady is still sticking to her story, claiming..."as long as I've worked here....I remember them being $2..."

It was kinda sad to watch her, but, that's just how some people are, they just decide to do the sh!t on the spot for whatever reason.

It's too bad Steelo, cause dude could have made a quick $20 or so...

Just dig elsewhere, you can find those artists for .25 - 2.00 all over.

Or better yet, send a girl in there to buy them, and see what he charges
Peace.

thats funny:)
always ask first-how much?
next ask-do i get a discount for buying a fat stack?

here in oregon, the goodwill is starting to selectively price records-like someone in the back thinks a nice copy of say, elvis costello is worth 4.99 cuz they liked it when they were young-but that hundred dollar hillbilly record slips right by them....and they dont even check the condition....
my favorite dig spot is a recycling center out on the coast-i got some nice jimmy smith, esquivel, brazillian funk,a nice fat stack of about 20 for 2 dollars:)
just gotta keep exploring...roll with it,man!

i pulled out a third ear band-macbeth og for cheap and was pretty chuffed only to look round and see my friend with a afreaka-demon fuzz lp in his hand with a £1.99 tag on it ......i felt happy for him as he is my digging partner but i still really wanted that record...oh well yuo win some yuo lose some

thats the thing i just asked where the wax was picked out what i wanted brought it to him and he did his calculations then told me the price i didnt tell him until after he waa done that i was gonna be sampling them but i dont think he understood to the fullest anyway. he said he was doin me a favor at 185 and that it would normally be double....too much BS u guys are right tho i should stick to the usual cheap spots...

this is why you need to know your records , and if a dealer trys to get over you can agrue it ,
i have been diggin for 30 yrs and he some one trys to get over like that they cant. i just picked up a devo record lastweekend for a buck , thats what the person was askin for but only because this record is so rare i have only see it twice i was taking a major chance on this record cause it was sitting out in the sun all day and they wouldnt take .50 or .75 cent he intisted on 1.00 so i have been looking for this record since i was 13 i paid it i brouught it home and it has a slite slite warp but still plays great .

but the point is if you dig enuff you know the prices you can agrgue with these people that try to rip you off and you dont leave feelin like you lost out ,.

record dealers are the worst to put prices on records for realz they sell shi+ all banged up and not play able for the fact that it's worth money which is wrong in my opinion, i like to buy records that i can listen to and sound clean if possible,

learn to haggle these fucers there the one's that up the pricew for every one.
