since I got no time anymore to dig myself... I send out my brother.. and let him deal with the bullsh!t... that record stores give you....

I found some david porter LP ... in a record store... it was priced 15 gulden ( this was short after the transition to the EURO) I thought ok 15 gulden is like 7 euro thats a nice price.. I wanted to buy the thing... the clerk says that all prices are in euro... and that it cost 15 euro ... even it had the FL sign witch stand voor gulden on the price tag........ ok . .......

always ask first-how much?
next ask-do i get a discount for buying a fat stack?

here in oregon, the goodwill is starting to selectively price records-like someone in the back thinks a nice copy of say, elvis costello is worth 4.99 cuz they liked it when they were young-but that hundred dollar hillbilly record slips right by them....and they dont even check the condition....
my favorite dig spot is a recycling center out on the coast-i got some nice jimmy smith, esquivel, brazillian funk,a nice fat stack of about 20 for 2 dollars:)
just gotta keep exploring...roll with it,man!

Out on the coast, huh? Where at? Don't worry, I don't have a car and rarely get out of pdx, so I probably won't be raiding your spot anytime soon ;)

I've been lucky. Your best bet is to be extra polite, and ask how much everything is first. I also leave a business card and ask for a call when any new vinyl comes in. If they know you're not a punk they'll normally treat you good.

I had a great day yesterday, Billy Cobham, Dic k Hymen (is this the worst name in the world?) and some great randoms for $2.

Good luck and keep at it!

The spot I dig in is pretty cool.
The staff is extremely knowledgable, most of them listen to the new records that come in and enjoy them as much as I do.
But what's so cool about it is that if they have three or four copies of a record, despite its value, they'll put half of them in the dollar bin or in the three dollar bin just to get rid of it.
I got a Jack McDuff record in there for 2 bucks and I saw the same record on the wall for 25.oo, which was actually a fair price for that particular record.

It's kinda like the time I went to a garage sale and the guy had some psychedelic records and I was like "how much for the records" and dude says "$10 a piece" to which I reply.... "what is this?? A record sale or a **** garage sale???" and then walked away? And then the dude proceeded to follow me down his driveway ranting about "do you know how much records cost these days??" and I turn around and tell him "buddy, if I wanted to pay 10 bucks for a record, I'd go to a record store you dummy" and then the dude starts FREAKIN!!!! long story short, my boy grabs a plate and whips it at him and we all took off...... goodtimes.

I went to the local second hand We-Buy-Old Vinyl store. Diggin up top in there racks and I'm coming up with doo-doo (plus some of this USED vinyl they want like madd $$). I look underneath & they got boxes & boxes of shyt and my luck is gettin' better (Lemme get this...I'll take that...& that, etc). Dude comes over & says, "oh...that stuff under there is not for sale".
