Hi,

My homie own a SP12 and hask me to hook up with my 2000XL... After 2 days of create beat (seq with de MP, playing drumz on SP), we decided to sample same sounds with both and compare...
What :? was my surprise, when, after resampling to 12bit on the MP samples were sound the SAME!!!... and would say with more pressure for XL's unit...
As I was about buy a SP1200 (for those soleganDARY[i] drumz), after a weet with homie SP's, I don't really know... I can't compare with an other SP12/1200 module, my homie 's the only owner ovathere...
I don't mean I can't feel the interest by owning a SP1200, but I need more advices... Is that low pressure's a "problem" when recording a final studio session?
Is anyone using this unit could send advices & tips, i thanks in advance.

Big up!

I have played with an SP in a long time but from the MP's options and capabilities I would say get an MPC1k or MPC2kxl. SP can't touch either one of them..

If you get an SP you will love the sound end everything yeah but when you finally realize the functions from the MPC you are missing out on you will be VERY sorry.

Thank you for replie Lampdog :) .
I've got the 2000XL since two years now & I'm really happy with this unit...
I'm thinking of the SP1200 for the drumz in my hiphop productions, I like the Mo limitations... it remembers me when I start with the S1000 w/2Mo!!!
The very one ting I'm worry about is the low output pressure when I'm in studio session...
Anyways, thanks for advices...

Big up! & take care.

I was reading an article at BEATTALK and Lord Finesse was talking about the SP1200 versus the MPC3000 when he was in Dr. Dre's studio session to record THE MESSAGE on 2001... he said when Mel Man was loading three and four beats at a time in the 3000 versus one on his SP1200, quote "I felt like I was in the Flintstone era and they were the Jetsons"...

thats crazy, you are right...
just switched on my MPC to check out...

i knew that i could downsample to 8 bit and how to do it, but i thought no 12 bit possible. seems i always "overscrolled" that option in the convert screen.

Nawh Prah...... I dont have it commanded to memory yet, but it is okay as a good reference guide to a lot of common things.......there was a post before when this kid really blew up on me and told me "there was no way to recreate the sounds of the sp12 or 1200 on the mpc" So I told him to play with the filters and the controls of the machine........he didnt understand me tho.....there is a lot of things that this machine can do when we actually use it as we should........the manual is like a book.....although not my favorite but I read it over and over again......looking for stuff I missed or stuff I havent tried before........I keep one on the top in the bathroom on the rack....dumpz can be pretty long sometimes.........back in the day I used to write songs while taking a dump........now I read manuals and write music notes

This machine is a beast!!! Different feel than de MPC... Don't really sure about the sounds... I'm still feeling more pressure from my MPC's outputs... I sometimes have to sample two times same ish (bd or sn) so they hit hard... Yes, loading's kindda slow w/MPC, but the SP is an amazing tool...

SP1200 day three.
