2000xl to 2500

How long does it take to draw a 20s sample in trim mode on a mpc-1000 or a mpc-2500?

On my 2kxl it takes soo long..

What do you mean by draw? If you explain the procedure i'll do it and measure it for you.

But i can load a 1m30s sample (17.7mb) WAV sample from the hard drive and it takes 8 seconds to load up.

If i then go to chop that sample into 16 equal parts it takes 9 seconds.

Not relevant to much but it's pretty quick

When i open the trim window and select a 20s sample for example, it takes 40s before the whole sample waveform is visible in the trim window

How long would it take on the 1000 and 2500?

Pretty much instant

should I save up to get the 2500 or just get the 2000xl now? I have about $900 saved up, I wanna start making music on hardware. I used Cubase SE3 as my main sequencer in the past, wanna get my feet wet in the hardware game, but I don't know if I should spend $2000 for a maxxed out 2500 yet.

Any tips?

Well I'm still stuck, went to a guitar center over the weekend and messed around with 2500 I like it but if I have it I'm going to be getting the same sound out of both machines. If the 1000 only had 8outs, thats only thing that I can't live without. 2500 is more comfortable but you do get the same sound out both of them. That's way I'm interested in the 4000. I messed around with
the MV-8000 that's a very diffrent machine reminds me of the day a brought my ASR-X home.

Dont be intimated by the 4000..95% of it is like all the other MPCs and once you learn it, you'll be glad you did.

get the mpc 500

I have transferred all fo my 2000xl beats to my 1000. You have to save program files ( .pgm ) and individual sequence files (.mid ). Just rearrange the seq files in song mode once they load in and presto 2000xl and 1000 communication...

im a purist love my 2000xl but 2500 has all the things i wish my 2000xl
had way back in the stone age when i got it but i would never sell i want them all from the 60 to the 4k all a great machines that have made alott of good music can't pick one over the other but i would never buy an mv8000 would rock an s20 be for i buy a roland anything

ps i wish there was a midi expander for the old mpc's cus 4 outs is super hot to def with that ish i would only have to use protools for audio recording
