The Card Reader Myth (pcd-15b,Forat, Argh!/help!)

anybody got a card reader fully working on a 3k ?? my zip drive is starting to act funny so it would def be welcome !

I am pretty sure the model that mpc3000le had was the PCD-15b.

As far as the original poster not getting his PCD-15 working, it actually sounds like a problem with the SCSI board fuse inside the MPC3000.

And yes, I can be jerk to people who email me without first reviewing the site, especially the comprehensive MPC Card Reader Guide at midicase.com. I have limited time to help people who are willing to help themselves first, not hold hands.

It was and still is ... in time when I can get hold of the machine it is now in then I will supply some info about the firmware version present.

Fitting another PCD-15b to a machine later this week.

Long time listener. First time caller. I just picked up a MPC3000le and I'm going to try to dive into replacing the internal floppy with a CF reader. I've read all of the available posts on this and it seems like it's a hit or miss thing. Even so I picked one up on ebay. The model number is Microtech PCD-25BHSF. I got thrown off by a small rainbow (RedYellowGreen/Blue) set of wires coming from underneath the drive. I just want to know if anybody has direct experience with this before I start cutting sh*t up. Specifically if what the rainbow wire is all about. Could it be for a controller card? And if it is does that put me back at square one?

did it work? looks a bit different. looks like you dont need an adapter for cf cards at least.

i have the same question, i bought my card reader from an ebay seller and it's the same one as shown above. Rohan said to get the microtech pcd-25 and use it external to decide later if i want to go internal with it, but once i recieved it in the mail it seems i can't do external. not sure how to hook that up either way. maybe the one i have is internal and i need to buy a specifically external drive , i thought they were all the same

you will need an external case. not hard at all.

oh ok, well where do I get that?

I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet. I was going to try to install internal but like i said earlier I got thrown off by the wires coming from underneath.

I think we probably got our drives from the same dude (Garland Computers?). The pictures he had up on ebay were for the same model drive but looked more like the one Dela used with the 25M serial number MADE IN JAPAN.

That looks exactly like the one I use with my 60II. Mine is in an external case though.
