8 outs output too hot?

What's up? I haven't used my 8-outs in a bit and now that I did, I was surprised to find out that when I recorded some tracks into my PC a lot of them went into the red, even though I'm 100% that original sounds never clipped (in fact, -3dB is the loudest they go I think). Does anyone have an idea as to what could be going on? Thanks.

Sure, but the internal mixer shouldn't boost the signal, should it? If I keep the "INDIV" "Vol" at a 100 and the sound originally didn't go past 0db, why should it now?

Something is making it louder, check your WHOLE chain of events that the audio is going through, any effects, recording gain on pc/soundcard, eq somewhere, busses in your daw, something is doing it. If you STILL can't find it then just "turn it down".

There is a difference in the volume of a sound coming out of theh mix output vs. the separate output.

So - YES - you should just turn the sound down...

Sounds like you are not monitoring your DAW, meaning you are probably listening to a different mix from what your DAW is recording.

See this is what bugs me, I run the audio straight from the 8-outs to my soundcard (which definitely shouldn't affect the signal). I dunno...

For what it's worth i think my MPC does the same for no apparent reason, too.

Hey yo. Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Seems like few peeps take advantage of having 8 outs but it really makes mixing CAKE. I'll back that comment up tho. Yes the output on 8 outs is a little on the hot side. In a good way tho. The stereo outs ussually need alot of boost and EQ. The 8 outs come across a little stronger and EQ on my mixer becomes easier and more workable.

This is something to keep in mind also. I noticed this when dealing with a few friends 8outs, I don't have 8outs on mine.
