Hi..

when i sync my sequencer (hardware, MPC2000XL) and the Fostex MR8 and do what the manual says and hit the record+play button my sequencer don't starts at bar 1 but lets say @ bar 20 (or 33, sometimes 45 and stuff)

when I use Midi clock it works perfeclty? wtf..!

I thought MTC was a better protcol then Midi clock

plz help? what am i doing wrong? and is this normal?

Go into menu on the fostex then turn
midi sync out=clk
mtc framerate=25

mpc2000xl
shift + 9 (midi/sync) then turn sync in (in:1 or 2 depending on which place the midi is coming in through) then
mode:Midi Clock
Recieve MMC:on
You should be set.
After every take press the rewind button next to play
Hold rewind + reset above stop and play and it will go quicker.

but with the clock you need to make a tempo map.. and with MTC i dont! the midi clock is working perfectly..but MTC not

when I use MTC on like say sequence 1 it works great! when I convert seq 1 - 5 into song1 and rewind it (like you say) it start around the middle of song1 (24 bars)..

everytime in song mode..i just dont get it

Yup thats the only way I roll. Two tracks at a time with the 8-outs. Then usb the tracks into acid 4.0 and master em there. Play with the mastering settings. Turn on powerfull and bright and natural when you are recording. Really beefs up the sound. I mainly use it to track and record me playin the bass, guitar, and scratches, so it works wonders for me.

aight you've been a great help..

how do you do it when recording? do you record your levels as hot as possible? cuz i al ready got a ruff mix inside the MPC ..and then record as hot as possibe and do the final mix on the mr-8

Get it so the peak lights next to the inputs are blinking a little bit. That should be enough. Then tweak your mix with the faders.
Loud as possible in
so you have more control over your mix later.

but don't you lose alot of headroom with that? most of the time i only mix 4 channels

You don't want it to clip, but just get a good input going. Use the mixer in the MPC to get rough volumes going. Tweak it in the fostex when you track it.
