Does Village Music in Mill Valley have listening stations? If not, is are they cool with listening on a portable? Just found out about this place and it's about a half hour drive from my place and just wanted a little info before I drive out there.

ay i havent heard of village music, but Amoeba on haight street SF has a listening station plus hella selection of dollar records and rares...dont go to the amoeba in telegrah ave b/c it doesnt have as much as the one on SF (just a lil sidenote there).

Not really clear on what you're saying. I'm not new to digging I'm just new to the area. Is it like Groove Merchant prices? Do they have records for $5 and under? If the owner is some record snob who charges $20 for a Weather Report album then I won't waste my time. I'm just trying to find some other spots besides Amoeba and Down Home.

i havent been there so i dont know his prices but he has been on Tv and i have met people that have been there, he's not like GM as far as records this guy has all types not just jazz/soul/hiphop.

this cats been around for many many yrs and knows many artist. he's more a collector type dealer

san jose has a copy of spots you could check out.

Rasputin - has vinyl but limited

Streetlight - has pretty good vinyl but also limited

Knightsounds - has tons of vinyl, a lot of oldschool funk such as evelyn champhane, p funk etc..

BIG AL RECORD BARN - i had too save the best for last....it's the hugest record store i been too. not as big as amoeba, but it's prettu huge. TONS of vinyl, from funk to newwave, 50's-90's, a ton of soundtrack albums, from starwars to beatstreet. just imagine a library of books, but instead of books it's vinyl. all catergorized and everything. they always have a sale of 50% off, hope u check it out man

like my man said, just know what you want when you go up in there. prices are not cheap, but you can find what your looking for. I love his rock selection.

I'm over there quite a bit. I have a friend who lives in San Jose and whenever I chill down there we always go to the comic book store next to that record store. I went in once and EVERY record, no matter what, was priced at at least $10. I didn't want to pay that shit so I left. If I'd known it was 50% off I might have given it a chance.

I'm not gonna lie though, they had some shit. Not the biggest store I ever seen, but they did have some shit.

BIG AL" will hook you up phat. I bought a ton of funk records that were really hard too find at cost. And all thier records are in great shape, you can also sell records too them so that can help a lot. you should check out the sales though, they alwayts have 50% off sales. It's worth it if you're a dj and like too collect records
