assigning a zone to a pad

ok i have a drum loop......i want to chop each snare..kick...and hat out of the loop.....but evrytime i do i always have to cut evrything except that one sound and save....the i have to sample the loop again to get a different sound


is there a way where i can do the zone thing....and assign each zone to a pad ....then save each sound???

please help i jus got this MPC2000xl

if im understanding you correctly. You have a drum loop. And you want to zone it out. assigning each hit in the loop to seperate pads? With the xl you just goto trim screen.. then zone. then set how many pieces you want it in.. you can then go through and make sure each piece is sliced proper (by tweaking start and end points).. then DO IT and it will automaticlly slice it for you and create a program out of it also. peep the manual, if you dont have one check akaipro.com for the pdf version . sorry if this is not what you mean.

ya i read the part about zoning the manual.....it told about slicing it and all that....but not that "do it" actually assigned it to the bads...

And if you ever need to cut something out of a sampled phrase, and don't want to loose the original, first make a backup copy of it (press Window on the sample name, then Copy), and work on that.

ok now i got it to load to the pads......but now wen i do it replaces the drums i had loaded in......how can i send the zone slices to a different pad bank or wutever?

and do i have to saave each little zone peice?? cus thats a ****

You might have to switch to a different/new program before so the old one doesn't get overwritten. Don't know the exact procedure for the 2000XL, but it will be in the manual.

dude..you gotta put that new work on track 2...you put it on top of your drum track

go to another track, select your new slice program, and your set...

OH,,just so you know, when you slice your samples using that "sliced samples" option, the mpc1k forces everythin to be mono...so if you had a stereo sample, it will change it to mono The only way around it is to assign each sample slice by hand to each pad you wana use

If enough people complain about this, hopefully it will be changed in a new OS

In the program window, you push whatever pad you want to program a sound to.
