Pros & Cons of 2500 & 4000

I just want the facts about the advantages & disadvantages of the 4000 & the 2500. I know the obvious facts such as 10 outs standard on the 2500, digital out option on the 4000, but what are the other differences such as software and functionality. The 2500 is newer... Is it technically better? or is it just a supped up 1k? Is Akai going to discontinue the 4000? Does the learning curve of the 4000 drawback from its features? I dont care about portability because i keep my machine in my studio. I just want to know which machine makes more logical sense to go with.

the 4000 can't be compared to the 2500 or any other mpc. Its the only mpc with a full blown sampler in it.

and yes the 2500 is a big version of the 1000, but i think the 1000 is becoming even better with functions compared to the 2500.

but why do you ask? planning on buying a 4000 or 2500? if u have the money there's really no big decision to make i think....

Seriously, its down to your needs and budget. No point in a 4000 if you only use it for 1/3 of its features.

If you want to know so bad, dig into the manuals and compare the features of each machine. Oh yeah and check that comparison chart.

Take your time and READ don't just browse.

Why are there so many threads around lately where people are asking for basic info on a machine, there's internet, there's reviews, there's *gulp* the companies website with SPECIFIC info on that machine.

BUT people still come here to get it spelled out in detail and asking someone else to do the dirty work, I don't get it.

Firsts of all Lamp. I DO MY HOMEWORK! I've been reading all over the internet for months! I spoke to many BIG & little name producers. I've read manuals, I've played around with both machines, I've studied the charts, but there are somethings that a chart, manual or article just can't tell you. Things that only a user could tell you... like work flow or things they enjoy about one machine over the other. I want to know what people think about these machines. With things like software updates, only a person that has used both machines will be able to tell you the subtle differences that will make one machine more appealing than the other. THATS WHAT THIS FORUM IS FOR.

Reading the manual is not the answer. I want to hear from those who have owned and used both machines.

I do music for a living so this is my top priority. This is not just a hobby to me so please take me serious.

I've read those... I've also read the one about the mpc4000 being the king. That seemed to be very informative.

The MPC Comparison Chart is innacurate! the information about the 1000 is not correct. It states that there is no option for external storage on MPC 1000. It does not state that Compact flash is 2Gb like 2500.
No Time stretching, Patched Phrase, Reverse, Slice or Auto Slice for the 1000. Yet the machine has all of these features. How can i use this chart if its not true?

The chart states that there is no Patch Phrase, Auto slice or input thru on the 4000? has this been upgraded? Will it be upgraded? If not.. what are the mpc 4000 users work arounds?

Can someone compare the midi editing functions of the 4000 with the 2500. the chart says that the 2500 doesnot have graphic editing but i thought it does? is this a 2500 update that was not reflected by the chart?

What is the future of the 4k? Is akai going to improve the OS? if the havent updated anything in over a year maybe its on its way out.

Do a search and no the 4k doesn`t and most likely will not have the others items either. But the 4k newbie bible explains alot about workarounds. Do a search or forever sit ..........................................................................................................
