Hi! (I searched!) :P
I've got the IISDMC card reader and two "try-out" cards (8mb Canon CF card & a PNY 512mb CF card, I'm waiting for my 1gb CF Sandisk card(being shipped)) and the problem is, when I try to upgrade from 1.14 to 1.14c / 1.20 my MPC(2000XL) says:
"Wrong file !!" (even when I try loadin' in some .wav's, .pgm's & .snd's)
The os file is not zipped it's just the .bin file, I've tried formatting the cards on my mac (fat12 & fat16) and on my mpc..
The card reader works fine and the cards are alright too, I had a floppy drive and I spliced the cable (ghetto style, tape and sh!t :) ..not real shit though)
Do I have to put the god damned floppy drive back into the mpc to upgrade it?

ps. when I press do it (1x) a message says: This writes OS to Flash memory. This process requires system restart. All memory contents will be lost !! -> Do it
I don't think my mpc has the flash rom installed (%99.99 sure that it doesn't) does this message appear to you non-flash-rom-having-pieces of sh!ts too (when upgradin' the os?) :P

i had this problem also. rename the .bin file to 1.bin.. or a short name then try. All mpc's have flash mem by default.. you can upgrade with more but by default it has just enough for the OS to live on.

nope, didn't work, I tried 1.bin
..still says "Wrong file !!"
what else could I try?

ps. I have a mac, what format do you format the disk to? (disk utility)

pps. jumper settings shouldn't have any affect on this, right?

another one: when I format the disk with my mpc it becomes fat12, when I format it on the mac it becomes fat16, the mpc can read both, which one should I use?

FAT 16 and jumper settings must be set to MASTER.

1.14c address some issues with zip drives. No other features.

Don't do it.

the jumper should be on the pins closest to the power connector. I didnt need to even format either of my CF cards (pny and some other shit brand). Just worked right out the box pretty much. Your saying you cant even get any sounds to load from the IISDMC either? I would go through make sure your connections are all ok. how are you copying files onto your cf card? have you tried hooking to IISDMC up to your computer and making sure it will work?

Hi! Thanks for all the support, I know card reader topics are really boring and tiring :)

I formatted the cards with my fathers pc, and they work, upgraded to 1.20 and it works fine!

..also, if this problem occurs with someone else, I recorded something and saved the sequences, .snd's and all that to the card before I upgraded, if that helps (guess you have to pop that cherry on the card :P aaaaahahaha) :)

once again, thanks to all you guys, you're solid as a rock, and lampdog, keep on beeing that father figure :) haha

thanks again!
