Record the midi out of you midi keyboard to a midi IN on your MPC, connect the midi out A of the MPC to the MIDI in of your Motif rack. In the main screen set track type to midi (A) and you will now be able to play your keyboard and hear te sounds of your motif rack (if you got your Motif connected to headphones/speakers of some kind).

This setup also allows you to record what ever you play on the keyboard in the seuqnecer of your MPC.

i do all that but instead use a micron..and it plays thru the mpc and vice versa...and it records n all but if i turn off my micron and i go back and play my mpc sequence.. its gone.. i.e. the bass lines or drops from the micron are missing on the playback.... now i understand midi is jus sendin notes and not actual sounds but then what i missing with the record part? whats the point of recordin if you can't "record" i.e. i wanted to unplug my mpc from my studio n take it to a real studio n f*ck wit the track there.. but if my sounds is missin it can't be done..

also is it a way to organize the sounds? i mean from micron to mpc? i.e only certain keys on the micron play the samples... like only the top pads samples play on the micron and vice versa?

i'm mad confused and dont' know where to go after searchin on here and google..

thanks yall

You understand that right. You are only recording the notes, not the sounds!

Usually that's the way to do it, cause it's more flexible. Means you will have to take your Micron with you to the studio. If you absolutely need to have your sounds in your MPC, you will have to connect your Micron's Audio Out to the MPC's Record In, and record the sounds just like any other sample, then sequence them like a usual sample.

I ALSO TRIED DOING THIS, BUT I CANNOT USE MY MIDI CONTROLLER TO CONTROL THE SOUNDS FROM MY MOTIF RACK. I CAN ONLY CONTROL THE SOUNDS FROM THE MPC PADS. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

You connected the Audio Out of the Motif to the Rec In of the MPC? And now you can play the Motif sounds for example the bassline with the pads of the MPC? Is that right?

EMAG, did you check out the picture diagram in the front of your mpc manual to see how you physically connect your gear, that's a good head start.

Sorry, my english is not so good. What means 'Imbao' and 'EMAG'? I don't have a MPC yet, but I just downloaded the manual and I'll look at the chapter 'connecting gear'. thx 4 the tip. :D
