how much is too much for a MPC3000 ???

OK there's this store in MD that sells used ( really used ) gear for outrageous prices....they want $1,699.00 for an MPC3000. am I crazy, or is that way too much???....they have two 2000xl's both for $899 ( guess they think we never heard of ebay )....and you get nothing but the power cord with them. they buy and sell gear, the bad thing about it is......they don't want to give you hardly anything for your gear, but will turn around and try to sell it for damn near the store price. They were charging $299 for a MICRON with missing knobs and scratches all on it?????? I really hate this store, but for some reason, I go in there every couple of weeks or so :0)........anyway....waht's the most you'd pay for a MPC3000 with nothing but the power cord and manual??????

it its a LE thats not bad, if its a regular one than its about $600 to much.

It's the tan/off white one....... an "LE"...... would that be the black one?

To be serious. It is hard to tell what amount of money would be too much to spend on the machine. It's out of production and it all depends on how good it still is, how much you want it and how much the owner is attached to the machine.

Like I said before, this guy owns the store(no attacthment to the joint)....and all of his gear(very used) is over priced, and an mostly in poor condition. Althought the 3000 does look to be in good condition. He basically see's the name MPC and automatically puts a high sticker price on them like he's the only source for used MPC's, not even considering the condition they're in. I can understand he's running a business, but do me a favor and save the outrageous prices for people that don't know any better.....know what I'm saying. Thanks for your input CUZZIN', I'll wait him out, he'll come down after a couple of weeks of nobody buying the joint......and I might end up with a new piece of gear.

why do you keep goign back there and why does it seem like you want to spend money there . is it so he can treat you like shit when he sells you a mpc with crap floppy or messed up buttons or somthing ..

Haggle if you want it if not buy one on eBay. But....... I have had 3 really bad MPC purchasing experiences on Ebay ( but 2 really good ones ) you have to really feel out the seller ( even call them ) and make sure the pack it right and insure it. MPC's get used alot if is the main sampling piece in a studio so you have to watch out and get near mint ones only. I got an MPC 3000 mint once for 800.00 ( woah! ) on eBay and I still use it , before that I bought a 3000 for 1299.99 in near mint condition and that was a good deal too. I figure around 1200.00 for a nice one .. pay extra and get the best conditioned unit as it is worth the extra couple of hundred dollars. Once I bought an MPC 60 on eBay and the guy almost did not ship it to me, I had to do a Chargeback , and another one ( 2000xl ) I got ripped on and Paypal did not help me at all even though I had it shipped to a confirmed address. Be careful and spend some time on the feeling out of the transaction!
