So what would you guys recommend. I have protools a midi interface and a Delta 44 soundcard. Should I get a mixer with effects, use a dj mixer with my turntable to filter as I sample, or what?
Thanks for answering the first question too.

since you have protools why don't you get some vst plugins?
(yes, you can open vst's with some vst -> protools software)

try EQ with the mixer and then use the in built filter. It's adequate for making certain bass sounds.
But yeah, the standard filter is nothing special on the MPC

Thanks again folks. Yeah I do have Waves Diamond for Protools, so maybe I should just edit it with that or soundforge before I take it to the MPC. Cool no problem.

Yeah, waves diamond is very good, but I wanted to get away from using VST's for my main sample's, but just use them for tweaking here and there when I track it out.
