OK I NOW OFFICIALLY BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUSE.. he's Japanese, and his name is JJ!!! Sorry for ever doubting you Santa! :)

For new comers, some Major things have been addressed with this OS update. Things that should have been there when the MPC1k came out! but JJ is fixing all that! Those of you who haven't installed it yet you're missing a lot!

[OS version 3.00 - latest release: new stuff]
- Shift + Data Wheel now scrolls faster through sequences / samples / sample start and end time...
- also like frspp said, LCD contrast can now be accessed with STOP+Data Wheel or TAP+Data

also notice:
- in NEXT SEQ and TRACK MUTE: unused tracks / sequences are blank! easier on the eyes. nice!

BUG?
- there's something odd with Solo now.. it still soloes 1 track at a time (which JJ will hopefully fix), but when you Solo 1 track, and you click Solo again to un-solo it, it doesn't work. You have to press All Off (F2 Button)
which is quirky.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS OS IS A F WORK OF ART
Things about the 1k that used to drive me mad:
(I'm gonna die a happy man!!!)
1- you can now switch between sequences while recording!! try it! F sweeet!
2- [not yet fixed, fingers crossed] Solo should work like Mute (Solo multiple pads in one shot -without using Shift-)
3- Shift+DataWheel scrolls faster!! weeeee
4- In NEXT SEQ: you can now switch sequences when sequencer is stopped!! >> best fix ever!!!!

Nice!! I have just loaded the new OS!

One thing I was missing:
In the Akai Os you could select the type of data you wanted to load like pgm or .all files. Would be nice if this feature could come back.

A suggestion: If you save a sample or sequence or any data, it would be really nice if you could press the numeric knob, making all the pads write numbers. Now you have to use the datawheel for selecting numeric data which is time consuming and not so handy. If it's not possible with the numeric pad, maybe the shift.

""""Beta verson can not save. Also, the beta version available will not have direct recording, but this will be available in the full release."""

is this still the case?

Great features.

But i think that shift and wheel does not work in the programs-section.

it just works in the trim page.

The load and save screen now sort the contents of the folder you're looking into on file type. On the top you'll find the project file, then the all file, etc., and finally the samples. I think there's not much need for the filter os2.1 used to have, unless you've got a ton of programs in the folder and takes you long to scroll to the samples.

Hi to all.
Just download OS 3.1 yesterday (OS 3 beta 16 already on my MPC1k)
It seem to been impossible to upgrade from beta 16 to 3.1
CF with OS 3.1 is not recognize by my M1k
I tried to "down"grade from 3.0 beta 16 to Akai official 2.1

......similar results

Is my MPC1k locked on beta 16 ???

Cheers to all

Uh-oh.

What was the method you used to try the up/down grade?
