I went from beta 16 to 3.01 yesterday, no problem.
I don't see why your 1K wouldn't recognize the CF with 3.01 on it.
Maybe the 3.01 bin on your CF isn't good. Put it on the CF again and try to load it.

Hmm...strange
You can't load anything (samples) from the CF card into your MPC?
Sounds like there's something wrong with the CF card or reader.

First, did you try factory initialize? > power-up while holding ERASE
See if that solves anything.

Fabrice06 - go with cowbell's advice. unfortunately there's been quite a few defective CF readers in the mpc1k. This had happened to me and several others. It's not related to the OS at all, since I was using OS 1.07 last year when I had this problem. In some instances, the CF reader my show signs of failure at random, then finally stop working (as in my situation at the time). Some other users' CF readers have stopped working without any signs of intermittant failure whatsoever. This could also happen with the mpc2500 as well (and it may have happened to some people already, since it's the same exact CF reader). You need to get at Akai for this if you're still under warranty. They need to stop using cheap parts made in the sweatshops of China!

All i have to add is that i'm so **** pissed I sold my 1k like a month and a half ago. It seems like the best part of this is improved work flow, which was my only problem. Those extra seconds can really kill creativity if you are ADD like i am. The grid seems way more intuitive, i obviously haven't used it. It's like this dude read my mind. Every change is pretty much exactly what i would want. I'm impressed and i haven't even touched an mpc since this came out. I see another 1k in my future.

fabrice, sometimes you have to reset the settings after you upgrade the OS. Try holding "erase" as you boot up the MPC. This happened to me earlier.

edit: sorry, just noticed that had already been mentioned.

An few others, myself included, were not liking the new way the data wheel moved from one sequence to another without waiting until the end of the current sequence. I kept reading JJ's fix's and realized he was saying that you could turn this on or off by hiting the window key in the main screen when the cursor is on the sequence itself. It's called NEXT SEQUENCE: ON - if this is set to on, it will change sequences only at the end of the current sequence.

He's really fine tuning this os now!

I am quite sure now that the CF reader is the main responsible for my problem.
MPC1k does not load anything and USB does not work.
As the USB port is slave (to the CF card reader) it is clear that if the CR reader lock the USB port lock too,, et voila ............

Fabrice06, did you try with a different CF card (maybe the 32MB presets from Akai).

From what i've heard it's not easy to get a new CF reader from Akai.

Yeah, the versions are getting much better feature wise, but there are still a good amount of bugs in some of the original 3.0 feature set. Especially in direct record tracks (61-64), where there are problems with recording, inputs, keeping takes, pitch, loop points, song mode and timing that still exist all the way up to 3.02.

Also, since I have been using these betas. when I look in the save or load screen I have noticed that my Internal Memory has a .all file and a bunch of jibberish programs which I cannot figure out how to delete. I also cannot mount the internal memory to the cpu via usb, or be able to delete them from the mpc directly. Does anyone know a way to get rid of these or any other unwanted files in your internal memory?

yeah!

i must admit, i still think the track mute all on / all off should be switched. so i reported this too, explaining that this is no bug but to me it would make more sense the other way round. this was my fist 'direct' contact with jj. i'm so exited if they probably change it or not. i said it's up to them, i can familiarize with the way it is, too.

You cannot delete files in internal memory, you can only overwrite them. This was the same with Akai's OS.
From what i know you can't have an empty internal memory.
There are only two saving options to internal memory "All programs and samples" and "All sequences and songs".
So what i did to 'clean' the internal memory is delete all seqs and songs in the MPC and then save "All sequences and songs" to internal memory.
Then load up 1 short sample and save "All programs and samples" to internal memory (you have to load at least 1 sample, otherwise it won't let you save "All programs and samples").
This is the cleanest approach, but you still have 1 .ALL file and 1 .WAV file in your internal memory.
