Getting a 60

so I had a 1000, and I figured that I might as well just make beats in my computer if I'm using a 1000. So I found someone to trade me a 60 mkii for my 1000. It's a 15 year old piece of gear so obviously it's not in the best condition, what should I be checking for to ensure I'm not ripped off? What is prone to break the most on a 60? What should I be looking for?

I think it's only a good trade if the 60 has the 3000 OS and memory expansion. That aside... sample in it and listen for any noise digital or otherwise, make sure all the outputs work and check that all the buttons and pads are responsive. To check the sample time to see if it's maxed out press <sounds> - option 5 sample sound and turn the data knob to the right. If it goes to 26.2 then it has the expansion. If it has a blue data port on the back then it has SCSI and if in the <other> - version screen it says OS v3.XX then it has the 3000 OS. Make sure the disk drive works too.

Don't let yourself think just because it's old you have to accept a piece of sh**.
Many 60's still look really nice and work well.

and just coz it's old doesn't mean you'll make better songs. Sure, it's got history, heritage and a great sound, but it won't make better songs than the 1000, remember that... Workflow might feel stilted too.

Besides you, who brought up anything about better songs?

i could kill it on a 60 compared to a 1000

60's work flow is ill, plain and simple

i really cant stand the work flow or the sound of a 1000 at all, so i dunno how the hell u can say you'll make better songs on it, that thing is a toy compared to a 60

I make great beats on the 1000. I make great beats just sequencing in a DAW. I never said I'd make better shit with a 60. I'm just trading my 1000 for a 60.

like rick rock once said it aint the equipment its what the ***** is all in the head. Some people might make better beats on a 1000 some people might make better beats with the 60. Its all about what works better for you.

what is prone to break on the 60II.....the floppy , LCD and hit decay sliders seem to disapear
and if you do get a piece to break do not order from route 666 becuase he seems to be cheaper becuase his gear is "wik wik wack"
but ill trade you one of my 60II fully boosted (cept for the scsi )
