I HEAR ALOT OF TALK ABOUT THE ASR10 ON THIS FORUM SO IT MUST BE A GOOD PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. IS IT A BETTER SAMPLER THAN THE MPC2000XL? WOULD IT BE A GOOD ADDITION TO MY STUDIO ALONG THE MPC? WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? PLEASE, LET ME KNOW THE DEAL!!

Great sampler with 24 bit effects and a huge third party library support. Also has a line in so you can run your guitar thru it and have some fun. The sounds are great but it is a completely different animal to the MPC as it has no pads and can only expand to 16 meg. But it does have it's own unique sound and they have maintained their second hand prices for years. A good addition to your arsenal.

I'm researching the 2000xl MCD or the ASR10 to add to my SP1200/S950 setup. Any suggestions or experience in these with the setup i currently have? I know the ASR has the effects but i'd likea center piece for my studio. All thoughts much apprecitated. Thanks

It SOUNDS better than a 2000xl. It is not as easy to use as one though..

Don't let that put you off. 16MB Of RAM is PLENTY of memory if used properly.

Most of my MPC programs don't even reach 10mb!

How are the sequencers on these? Hard to use and navigate edits?

The ASR sequencer is not as nice as the MPC's. Also the file/instrument structure is a little different than most. Once you figure it out though its not bad.

asr10 sequencer not as easy as mpc.

asr10 is a full sampler, 2k/2kxl is nowhere near a full sampler.

track layer structure is "different" but not hard.

16mb is plenty if used properly and memory management techniques are used (I've tracked out vocals on asr10, along with the beat, vocals weren't the best quality but they were IN there).

if you want a centerpeice, go for mpc.

Thanks for your advice Lamp. I'm pretty much set on the 2kxl MCD now.
