Transmit Program Change...ok,but how to record it ?

I have 2000xl model.Here is the situation:

In this example I'm using only Sequence 01 - 4 bars long set to loop.
Only 1st Track is busy (has data).
I want to play on this track 1st program for the first 2 bars and 2nd program for the last 2 bars.

I know that when I want to do that,I have to open STEP screen from the main window and insert the Program Change events manualy.
Can someone tell me how to record these changes during the normal recording (I mean overdub).I've been trying to figure it out for 2,5 hour today and I have nothing so far.

By the way,on the main screen,why there is 128 program possibilities to choose from (on the right side in the track field),if in the manual it says,that it is only possible to create 64 programs?? I just don't get it,or maybe I'm missing sth or not thinking as I should about some functions.

Anyone can explain?

-a program is a collection of sounds assigned
to 64 note numbers

What I would do is:

make 2 sequences

1st seq with 1st program 2 bars long.
2nd seq with 2nd program 2 bars long.
In song mode when you are finished with ALL your sequences, just chain them all together in whatever order you want. This is easier than making program changes for mpc programs, the result is the same once you play the whole song out.

That's not possible, 128 program possibilites, you are misunderstanding what you are seeing for program possiblities.

Well,I figured out your option,I mean how to play these 2 bars one after another using two Sequences in the Song mode.
Now I think I have to spend some more time with the manual,and try to understand all the terms correctly.

U have a question, come back but be warned, if it's so simple as "how do I save" you might get the rtfm reply, lol. No really, you might, lol.

I just though of something else.

If you wanted the whole 4 bars to be in the same sequence.
Record 1st program, 1st 2bars on trk 1.
Record 2nd program last 2 bars on trk 2.
Each track gets it's own drum w/ associated program.

This way everything will be in one seq. Result will sound the same as the other option when played back and no need to bother with song mode this way.

Anyway,I have used the above example especially to get the answer for my question about using the Transmit Program Change function.
As I mentioned before,I can insert the Program Change events in the STEP screen.Both Programs have different Program Change number of course and it works perfectly.But I still don't know if there is any other way.
I must admit,I'm quite stubborn.Problem is,that I really want to know the answer that's all !
So,does anyone know about other way than STEP edit ??

Don't be confused by the PGM 1-128. This does not refer to the "Programs" on the drum pads. A "Program" in an MPC refers to a drum sound and all of it's "params" etc. The "PGM" on the main screen refers to "Program Change". It is specifically for changing programs on synthesizers and has nothing to do with anything INSIDE the MPC.
Everything in the architechture of synths is in parameters between 1 - 128.

I use this feature every day, and have not noticed a way to record REAL TIME program changes half way through a bar. I believe you can do it in STEP record, but otherwise it will do it at the start of the bar.
