Feature request: Read only files/folders

Oh no! Not another feature request

Ok, so I am really bored this evening...so I have started sampling the drumsfrom all my sound modules into the 2500, chopping the samples, and creating drum kits. When I am done, I will have a Roland, Yamaha, and Emu drum kit folders.

Well after all this work, I know I can easily save them/back them up to another location.(playing devil's advocate with myself). But, I would like the ability to make files Read Only on the MPC 2500s hard drive. That way, it will be harder to delete/alter files accidently.

Oh....and please hurry with the ability to save data to CDR/CDRWs

And while we are at it...I need a quicker way to quickly assign samples to a program. It is time consuming to do it onboard the 2500. In other words, automatic assign samples to a program upon loading

Also If I want to load/delete multiple files from the hard drive, I need an option where I can check/un-check files to be deleted/loaded....

That's a self help issue right there though, just slow down and pay attention to what your doing.

I never deleted any of my kits myself. But I looking for an ol skool feature like write-protect so know one else will erase files. But if we are finally given the projected feature of backing up data to CDR.....

Oh snap...I just missed the obvious. After, I finish putting together all these drum kits, I will just save them as data disk on CDR using my PC, which the 2500 can read, but not write Silly me...

But the other two issues will be a great additon. Lampdog, doesn't the XL have some of these functions?

Nah man, not on xl.

nope, not that either.. I use MPC Editor and or Awave to make programs
if I want that. Easy on the pc, cause I can drag and drop, or automatically make a program out of a folder, ie, I make a folder and drop in 64 samples, now Awave and/or mpc editor can make all the contents of that folder into a pgm for autoloading into the xl.

I could have swore that when you load a samples into memory, there is an option that allows them to be quickly assigned to a program...if not, maybe its Battery I am thinking about.

Also, I though you can go to your disk menu and and have the ability to select multiple files to load or delete....

Nah man, niether one of those are on the mpc.

I can get around those but not inside the mpc.

I take the flash card to pc for any batch processing ie, deleting multiple files.

Automatic assign to program, nope, not at all.

I was told the MPC2500 won't ever be able to 'backup entire memory' to CD like the MPC4000 - but then again - the MPC4000 will never be able to burn a RedBook CD !!!
When you're done sampling/assigning/effecting, move the folders to your compy via USB and burn a data DVD - the MPC2500 will be able to read that !

We willl wait and see...

The 2500 was initially projected to receive data back up on CD. However, we got a suprise where it burns actual audio CDs. If the data backup comes..it comes....
