It Cant Be This Serious!!!

I started recording a beat on to cool edit,I made the whole beat with sounds from my mo phatt and sequenced it on my mpc. This is the first time ive recorded one of my beats and IT CANT BE THIS SERIOUS!!!
If I have to record track by track in 4 bar intervals for the whole song its going to take me FOREVER.I had to give up!
Getting all the tracks to even up perfectly and to go aligned with the others was so frustrating.Now i understand why 8 outs is soooo important but i would imagine it would still be annoying anyway(it would just ease the pain).I guess I have to start buying a bunch of sample cds so i could start sending 8 outs to my delta because i would never be able to finish recording a song the way im doing it now just using mo phatt.

Am i missing something or is this the only way i could to do it, would midi sync help?What other methods would be easier for the setup i have.

what i was thingking was............., just lay the whole song down on the mpc exactly how i want it then record each track from the beginning of the song till the end, and do this with every track.So if i have 10 tracks and the song is 5 minutes it would take about an hour to get the beat into cool edit and THATS JUST 1 SEQUENCE!what if a song has like 4 sequences, ill be there forever And this is the fastest way i could think of!

On your MPC chain your different sequences together in song mode then you can record out to PC in song mode.

8 outs with an equally capable sound card would be nice.

Midi sync MPC to PC, you wouldn't have to be sliding tracks together as much if not at all.

Midi Sync would help GREATLY! Trust me.....it does take a lil while still though, but how much time is ur music worth?

this why most pro producers who use mpc's...tend to use software sequencers, like Logic, DP, Pro Tools.

so hows do these sequence software work with the mpc? whats the point of the mpc if your just going to use your software to sequence?( for the sampling?)
why dont they just load up the sounds to logic/protools and sequence there?

Now that would be telling!!!

well...most producers (well the big guys anyway) would perhaps use the MPC for thier drums (coz of the unique sequencer feel of the mpc), then record them into pro applications like pro tools and mix it all down in thier.

i use my MPC with Logic Audio.

Does that allow you to send out eight tracks or sequences simultaneously? Or only tracks or only sequences?

Only the audio that u have in your mpc.......

how about when ur finished with a song and ur gonna record it, make a new sequence thats like 2 bars, put a kick at the start of the new sequence, and play thru that sequence first before u record the real tracks and just line up that one kick at the start, then when ur done mixing and shit, mix it down and just cut the starting kick out of the beat.

Im not gona go to much into detail on this tip cause most of yall might already do it and could break it down to who ever dont understand. If you record you music to the computer and you have the 8 outputs on your mpc or not this is what you do. Since a hip hop beat is pretty much one big loop just record each track in for about 8 to 10 bars using midi code or whatever its called. Once you get all them tracks in just high light how ever many tracks there is and copy them for another 16 bars. Right there you should have pretty much the whole song for the first verse and hook. Next while using the cut tool just cut parts out to represent mutes in the verse so it dont sound like the hook. Then recopy this for another 50 or so bars and boom you should have the whole song....this will save you time instead of recording each track for 3 to 5 minutes and harddrive disk space. I use to do it the other way but if you do the math its gona take you x amount of tracks times 3 to 5 minutes to record the whole song and that could be anywhere from 35 to 55 minutes. the way i do it it only takes 8 bars for each track and its in then i go and eat a sandwich and come back and arange it all.

Pro Tools isn't geared towards Pre Production, and the Midi is weak, logic is another story though....
