Is it risky business to install an multicard reader indide the mpc2kxl?
I installed an internal zip drive a few years ago.

is it possible to order an modified cable for the IISDMC?

Same as Zip disk - done both. My advice: update your OS before you switch drives.

Once again upgrading hardware could cause some malfunctions in your mpc as wel as upgrading your os. seriously don't take 2 hurdles at the same time: first upgrade to an internal cardreader (assuming you are already rocking os1/14) and once that is working as it should then you are fine to upgrade to os 1.20 (if you really feel you need it since os 1.14 works perfectly fine with os1.14, astually if you're thinking about using external haddisks then it's wiser to stick with os 1.14 since 1.20 does not allow you to format a disk with multiple partitions.).
