Midi-Juno106+2K xl?

I am having trouble with midi...Is there anyone out there that knows how to connect a juno106 to the 2Kxl and knows what is supposed to happen? How do you transfer and track record? It would be really great- at the risk of sounding like a dumb ass- if someone could give me a process for examples/tests that I could run to acheive what they know is supposed to happen and their effects. I've set two mpcs up to transfer and set easy time code type stuff...But the manuals for the juno and the mpc are quite vague on how to sync them or what it's supposed to be acheived when you do. And if no one knows does anybody know the device id for a juno106? Thanks to anyone who may help.

I use my 1k and 106 together

hook the midi out and in on juno to in and out on the mpc, respectively... turn off 'midi thru' on the mpc.

...the juno aint multitimbral, so basically you sequence one track at a time, then record it to audio.

you can overdub midi notes, and record knob/slider tweaks..

um, watch out for one weird thing:: the juno 106 has a f**ed up quirk regarding midi, every time you lift your finger off the last remaining note on the keyboard it sends an extra midi message- "all notes off" message. this makes it suck as a controller for other synths... and sometimes it will react weird when you play this data back into it. so if your sequence acts weird, go thru in step edit mode and delete those "all notes off" messages.

Hey thanks for your help...I was able to get the the notes recorded and appear in the step edit- but I guess what I am asking is, what does that meen? When I play it back no sound comes through...midi doesn't record audio right? so what do you do? affect your mpc samples with the keyboard and vice versa? How do you tweak sounds? Im a dumb ass sorry but if you could just tell me what is the advantage and the desired effect- if it isn't obvious I know very little about midi

Good info. I wasn't aware of the f**ed up quirk. I hope to be adding a 2kxl to my setup (sp1200/s950/juno 106). Thanks for the tip.
