MODE KEY LOOSE-NOT BROKEN-YET

So I havent had my 2500 more than 3 months and my mode key is starting to go. It still works with no problem, buts its really loose. I tend to swipe that button alot, as opposed to press it - kinda like a rubbing action. Has this happened to anyone. Hell, it actually works better for my swiping technique, I'm just afraid that if its not tended to it'll have to go to the shop and I don't want to have to part with my baby for WEEKS. I'm thinking about taking the chassis off tonite and looking at it. I dunno. Anyone?

yea dude just take it in.. and while your waiting look for some new drum kits.. samples... and equipment as in keyboards and such.. or just think of what beats you can make before it gets back.. yes we all truely would miss the mp if i goes away for a while but you gotta live with the finer things in life ... and the way they are. its not like you had a choice to have it loose right?

how long has your button been loose? Does it still work with no problem?

Did you ever at one point knock the button from the side? MPC's buttons are really only made to be depressed directly down. If you saw how the internal button structure is, you'd understand what I'm talking about. As far as replacing it, it's something that you could do yourself. However, I once called VST for replacement buttons for my XL, and it cost $4.00 per button. Not expensive if you're only buying one, but damn, that price for the little piece of plastic?

..I have a tendency to hit the mode button kind of awkwardly when i get moving fast. Where did you get your new button from? Will probably have to get one. I assume its not that hard to replace. I'm going to go home now and take off the chasis and have myself a look.

i just noticed after reading yr post. and i am not rough at all with my mpc
it doesn't suprise me i mean the whole machine doesn't even sit balanced
my stop button is looser than the rest of the buttons too. but everything works fine.

wow...i was looking to buy the 2500 but all that money for a newest machine which buttons turn loose after 3 months?

yeah, i took mine to Digital Village in Southamton UK who send it off to Cimple Solutions. They have had my feckin MPC for about 2 months now - just to replace the LEFT OUT which had blown.

So if you do take it in, seriously ask for a replacement - with ALL you added extras, like disk and memory etc.

Its definately not a problem most would have. I tend to move really fast with my button pushing, so I tend to run my finger across the button as opposed to pressing it down.
