I know you can hook it up with USB but can you control the drums using it with Reason?

That would be nice.

That would depend on your computer, and audio/MIDI interface. You get what you pay for....

i just talked to a rep from akai and he said they are still fine tuning it, so nothing until october. i might end up getting a padkontrol for the meantime.

I checked out a padkontrol last week. It is built like a piece'o'carp.
I'm afraid I'd break it the first time I used it. Only two pots. Their drum roll thing can't sync to MIDI clock either so you can do 1/16th notes and stuff, but they will happen on random beats. I have an MPD16 and a trigger finger.
The MPD16 is cool for $99 but lacks features and the pads are hard.
The Trigger finger is a **** to program without the editor and the pads suck.
I'll be getting a 24 when it hits and will be able to give a comparision of all of the units. Hopefully it will measure up. Having MPC2500 pads is enough for me but the faders, pots and real display look good too.

I can feel your frustration. I would try another company myself if I wasn't happy. Lets just hope that when the new MPD drops, you won't regret your purchase.

....I have to add that if they release the new MPC and it wasn't ready....folks would be calling them even more names...was there ever an official street date?

im going to do the same..

yes jah, i am fuming. i dont understand why they even mentioned that this is coming out if they are no where near done with testing it.. thats just dumb.

they should only talk about a release date ONLY after all testing has been completed.
