Real time?

Sup guys.

im looking at getting my first mpc in the next 2 weeks. at the mo, ive got about a $2k (aus) budget.

im looking at getting a mpc, a midi keyboard, a mixer (with a mic preamp), and a better mic (im a mc aswell) at the mo ive got a sm58 mic.

now i have done my research, ive been lurking in the forums for a while, and done searches which have answered some of my questions. i just need a little bit of help.
i guess it would be best if i told you what i was expecting to do:

I want to have the mpc setup as the main hub, the midi as the controller, and adjust the levels via the mixer.
i want to have a steady workflow, and record on teh fly.
e.g. I want to select a sound, then be able to record a loop..like a melody via the midi keyboard. then while that melody is playing back, i want to be able to chuck a drum loop over it using the mpc pads. basically modify on the fly.

sorry if its not making sence, i just wnat to have a very steady work flow.

Now is that possible with a mpc1000? or am i better going 2000xl? or is what im talking about not really possible at all?

Can anyone reccommend a good midi controller for about $500 (australian remember)?

I had to do a currency converter to see how much you had, and you're working with a little over $1500 in USD. That's a pretty decent budget to work with compared to a lot of the people in these forums, so consider yourself lucky. Now to answer your questions...

All of the MPCs are capable of doing exactly what you mentioned; it has pretty good features for modifying the sequences in realtime.

As far as spending for a midi controller, the conversion was about $380; I doubt you'll want to spend that amount (and won't have to), especially considering you want to spend for other gear as well. But mainly the price of the midi keyboard is gonna depend on what brand, and/or size you plan to buy. Let me know how many keys you want and i'll give you some suggestions.

im lookin for about a 49 key midi controller.

Well i guess im gonna go with the 1000 as its the newer one, and i cant see anything that the 2000xl can do that the 1000 cant.

If you could reccommend a good midi keyboard that would be great. im not sure if im gonna go second hand or not.

do you think this is a decent setup for my first mini home studio? ive been saving for a while for it
