I need to vent!!

Man I just spent the last 2hrs lacing a hot beat, and I started to get ear fatigue, so I told my self, I can stop here and come back in a few hours with a fresh set of ears and finish the track. Well I went to create a folder so I could save my work, and what do you know, the MPC froze!!! Have that ever happened to any of you, I am so pist right now......

Sorry to hear, man, that sucks. I've learned my lesson: save soon and save often.

I think from now on I will create a folder before I even make a beat, that way I can save as I go, that truly hurt me when the 2500 froze up on me, I was like noooooooo, not right now, this track was fire!! Oh well, there will be others...

It happened to me once the other day. I was trying to create a folder inside a folder, that was inside another folder

The MPC froze up while trying to save. I turned it off and turned it back on. Suprising enough, all 3 folders where there when I checked the hard drive.

I had a similar situation recently, only with a more dramatic result. I also tried to create a folder on my internal HD, during which the MPC froze. After turning it off and on again there was a new folder on the HD, but the contents were a bunch of files and subfolders with completely random symbols. Due to this I'm not able to delete this folder or any of the items contained inside. If I browse my HD and accidentaly access this folder, I'm not able to save anymore during that session. Did anybody have a similar experience?

I came across that problem on my computer once.

Can you access your hard drive from your PC and delete the file? I would try that, and/or backup all your files to your computer and re-format the hard drive.

You know we may be on to something because I was trying to create a folder within a folder, and the funny thing about it, is when I turned my 2500 off and then on againg, the folder that I was trying to create was there, I find that very strange!

yup.. my mpc gets very warm from time to time... but i doubt it will shut down or freeze like my laptop... (the laptop froze cuz of to much dust in the fan... but i hope this wont ever happen to me while im making a beat... thnx 4 the heads up... appriciate it..

this problem seems to only happen to people with harddrives in their 2500. am i wrong?

That's not strange though. It just sems like your MPC had succesfully created the folders THEN locked up immediately afterwards. So yeah, they would still be there, no surprise.

I don't like the sound of this 'bug' at all, not not when I'm really trying to
find the nutz to go buy a 4k / 2500 when I get back. I've been saying that for a couple years now but bugs are scaring me.

for quick "in between" saves i always use the save as autoload function - that way i don´t have to create folders. At the end of the day i move the files to the propper folder on my mac and backup my work.

The funny thing is that I'm not even able to delete the scrambled folder from the computer. I get an error message stating that the characters are not supported, and that's it. I backed up all the other files and plan to re-format the HD again. Maybe it's a good idea to prepare a bunch of empty folders to be used for saving any new project and then you just need to rename them...
