i have a Mackie 1402 VLZ, not quite the same as your one, but let me tell you that it does sound nice. it has a very clean yet warm sound.

i have a Behringer 1804mx too, and it sounds clean, but transparent (very flat), but its nice too.

my brother has the Sound Craft Spirit M12, which i think sounds the best out the 3 for its overall sound quality, completely hiss free, but the Mackie is very close.

However, the Mackie has much better mic pre's and the Alt 3/4 option for individual channel recording which is sweet indeed. the faders are also stiffer than the others above.

good luck with ure mixer.

Have u done a test to prove this (all mixers with main gains up etc ) - It sounds good to me. its in the gain structure

So far I cant really make a comment of much detail cos I aint tried to mix anything on it yet. It sounds ok - EQ is sensitive/harsh like fuk tho but Its in the technique I spose....I'll get use to it. To me, mixers are like monitors- You gotta learn em.

I didnt pay much for it anyway - £500 BRAND NEW so its all good. £900 rrp over here normally.

I have tested the the 2 mixers in the same enviroment with same pro cables and stuff, same music, same levels.

infact we had our mixers run through big PA systems provided by a company called 'Banasplits', using the D&B system.

so yeah...the M12 was cleaner, whilst the Mackie had sligh hiss.
my mates 1202vlz is the same too.

but like i said b4 its very minor.

No music would be more accurate tho - U cant really hear excess hiss over Neptunes stuff (I know thats what you had playing  )

LOL
