Contacted Akai about new OS

Just in case any of you guys are interested, I contacted Akai"

"Hello, I'm an MPC2500 user and would like to know when a new OS update may be comming out? Please let me know. Thank you."

"Sorry to say that for many reasons I can’t comment on the possibility of new operating systems or new products, what they might entail, or when they would be released if developed. Sorry that I can’t really comment. Sean Shea."

That was the exact same reply, word for word, I got from the same guy when I asked if they would be releasing macintel drivers for the MPD16.

Maybe Akai's going down

There have been several issues with the previous operating systems which have been addressed in additional releases. What issues need to be addressed in the next OS update?

Issues:
1. MTC sync (SLAVE) issues
2. Infrequent issues with overwriting files on hard drive
3. Note repeat behavior differs in play and record


Any others?

And have you ever thought about how many of those requests that guy gets every single day? Would you compose an individual reply each time?

Midi Clock sync when recording into Logic Pro is buggered (for me) with 1.2/1.21.

To interpret his words he is bassically saying that Akai have communicated zero plans for future updates to their customer support.

That haven't even left instructions for the guy to allay customer fears.

This is essentially the antithesis of customer support.

No, he basically said he won't tell when a new OS will be released, which was the only question. Because probably they don't even know themselves, and if they promised a certain date, and can't hold it up for whatever reason, people will come here and start ranting even more.

How does it work when the MPC is set as the master?

I'll put 1.21 back on there tomorrow and let you know.
