drum kits and programs

ok i load a program/drumkit and record a basic drum pattern...but then i load my piano program/kit......and i wanna record a melody over the drum pattern....but wen i switched programs...it made my drum pattern disapear......

how the hell can i do this properly...

you hold shift - program (6) and assign them in the order you want....you should be able to figure it out from there....and before anyone else tells you, read the manual!!!!

i mean "how do i switch drum kits without losing my sequence??

Go to another track and select the piano program there. You can't use different MPC programs on the same track (as in sequencer track).

RIGHT, miles, you record on track 1 cool.
move to a different track and record/overlay something different.
and so forth and so on.

remember to use OVERDUB instead of RECORD after the first recording or it will erase ur first recording

Overdub is only used if you are recording more notes on to the same track. Since you want to use 2 different programs in one sequence, you would need to use 2 different tracks. When you select a program, you first select which "Drum" 1-4 that you are using. You assign one program to drum 1 (lets say the drum kit) and the other (piano) to drum 2. Then when you set up the second track in the sequencer, you need to assign it to drum 2. That way you have multiple (up to 4) programs playable at once.

Assuming you have an XL, the 2000 does not have this feature.

Thats not how you make them, thats how you assign them so that when you go back to the seq and go down to DRUM1, you can switch it to DRUM2 and your next program will be there!!!!

Thats not how you make them, thats how you assign them so that when you go back to the seq and go down to DRUM1, you can switch it to DRUM2 and your next program will be there!!!!
