To interpret his words he is bassically saying that Akai have communicated zero plans for future updates to their customer support.

That haven't even left instructions for the guy to allay customer fears.

This is essentially the antithesis of customer support.

I have to say this..some of you guys are smoking crack (probably more than me  ). I can't think of one major company that produces software that you can call/write about a future OS and they will give you details or a release date. If you guys know of one...please let me know.

And if you have issues...by all means..don't keep it to yourself. Report it in the forums and to Akai so we can get the best OS possible. Again..that is IF you have problems. To just say "I have issues" is doing no one any good. And I doubt Technical Support wants to answer questions all day about 'What is grid edit' or 'will the MPC enhance my productions?'. Customer support doesn't mean they will hold it for you while you relieve yourself

Midi Clock sync when recording into Logic Pro is buggered (for me) with 1.2/1.21.

Also when you get a chance...can you explain exactly what you meant by your statement above.

sensei wrote:That was the exact same reply, word for word, I got from the same guy when I asked if they would be releasing macintel drivers for the MPD16.

I only mentioned getting the exact same response but I don't think I explained myself clearly enough. Sorry.

With regards to intel drivers (sorry to put this in the forum). I was taken aback a little when I received the reply. Every other company I have emailed regarding them has met with a similar response: "we will have them ready soon"

With regards to the MPC2500 (which I currently don't own) OS and hardware, it looks pretty tight and the improvements that they put in make it even better. 2500 owners should be more than thankful.

thought it was interesting to see the exact same response int his forum regarding the 2500 OS.

With plans for an MPD24 and the advent of Macbooks and the like I thought they would have some plan for MPD drivers and I thought they would have communicated this along the line somewhere. Just makes me wonder do they have any plans?

OS 1.0/1.1
1. MPC syncd as slave (for arguments sake it's on B but it seems to make no 2. difference)
3. Logic set to send Beat Clock
4. Arm an audio track
5. Hit Record (1 bar count-in, metronome off)
6. Start recording MPC output.

OS 1.2/1.2.1
1-4 as above
5. Hit record, first beat of what I want to record plays at start of count-in bar, then starts as if it is recording as normal (6) but at start of bar where the recoding begins there is no first beat, then the subsequent beats start playing as if there had been a first beat. Just to make things worse, if I zoom in, instead of beats being a little off time, they're early, i.e. ~32ms early rather than ~32ms late (32ms being the latency I use when recording). Other latencies, fwiw, make no difference.

Other hardware is a Motu 828mkII, hooked up to a Mac G5 2x2ghz running latest OSX and Logic Pro (7.2.1), although this issue only arose after 1.2 was installed. However I'm kinda hoping its user error rather than MPC OS because I'll learn something from that, rather than just be frustrated with Akai (1.2.1 is much nicer to use, grid edit for one is so much better, while 1.1 has its annoying quirks to say the least).

So what you are saying is..with OS 1.0/1.1, slaving the MPC to MIDI clock is tighter than doing the same with OS 1.2/2.1?

By pb-sh Sat Aug 05, 2006 2:22 pm
Not really. I'm saying under 1.2/1.2.1 it's fooked, at least for me.

I am starting to have a hard time following you....

I know that you said you have issues with OS 1.2/1.21. But is it better or worst with OS 1.0/1.1?

1.0/1.1 = Working correctly
1.2/1.2.1 = Working incorrectly

I will check that out with my set-up.

If it is a problem...set the MPC as a MTC master until this is ironed out.

Current Issues with OS 1.2/1.21:
1. MTC/MIDI Clock sync (SLAVE) issues
2. Infrequent issues with overwriting files on hard drive
3. Some files seem to disappear on hard drive/CF card..but are in fact still there
4. Note repeat behavior differs in play and record

Any more?

We need a proper hard disk shut down function/option, instead of just turning the mpc off while the disk is still spinning. Some people say that they just wait till they can hear the disk has stopped spinning and then turn the unit off.
But my hard disk is alway spinning and never seems to stop even after a long period of no use. This feature is a must. (Sent a request to akai support about it) Using a Toshiba 100G HD.

KEY GROUP is not supported so its not a bug.

You are suppose to buy something for what it has..not buy it and then complain because it doesn't have what you think it needs.

..and its 'OUR'...not 'ARE'...but you should have written something more accurate like....'MY'.... :D

Anyway..gentleman...I am just trying to fgure out what 'bugs' (real/perceived) are in the latest OS..not feature requests.

Ethersky...are you saying that just turning off the MPC while the hard disk is spinning will damage the drive or data? Has it happened to you?

I still got an original bug that ive had since 1.0. hasnt changed with 1.21

When you have an "unused track" then go into grid mode........, then hit rec, and enter in an event. The event is entered, however, when you exit back to the main window, the track is still labeled and considered "unused track.

This only happens when i start from an unused track, then go directly into grid mode, and try to record an event. The event is recorded, and when you play, everything else is fine, except the track is still labeled "unused track"

this is a problem because the track is only recognized as "unused" in pad mute.

this is a serious bug, and if you need further explanation, Just ask!

peace

I never came across that one but I will check it out on my unit.

Did you ever report this to Akai?
