Do a search there young grasshopper for "card+reader".
Also check out http://www.midicase.com/card_reader_guide.htm.
But don't go for a Zip Drive. I switched from the floppy to a Zip 250 to Microtech card reader in my 2KXL.
Man, am I glad that I ditched the Zip drive. I still got 30-something Zips laying around not being used anymore.

Thanks for your help. I have an internal 100mb drive internal at the moment but its saying file directory full when i try and save something even thought there is about 60-70mb free on the disk. Perhaps i have too many files on the disk. Im not too clued up on the card reader thing and it seems like there are many many different options. Can you get an external scsi card reader and what would be the advantage of doing this? Thanks, Ben

Is it easier to buy an internal card reader. I have all my sounds/pgms/seq files on 100mb zip disks. I have an internal 100mb at the mo. Can anyone suggest what to do? Thanks

One of the card readers that is KNOWN in the forums is the one mentioned in my USEFUL LINK thread by "Pt3r".

I have that EXACT card in my 2kxl, I went from floppy to 250 zip to THAT card reader. Works perfectly, if you already use a zip, then swappingover will be easy. Use the exact same jumper switch settings, data cable and power cable inside your 2kxl and you'll be fine.

BTW, I forgot to ask, is your zip drive IDE internal (then go with above advice) or SCSI external (can't use the above advice on a 2k classic machine)?

zip drive IDE internal (inside the mpc)

or

SCSI external (outside the mpc)

i had one zip disk go bad on me and it ruined all my drives. some how some way. i had 3 zip drives. 1 usb and 2 scsi drives. 1 bad disk. popped the disk in one drive. error. tried it in my usb drive. error. switched scsi drives. popped it in that drive. error.

to this day none of those drives work. no matter what disk is in it :?

maybe they're good to start out with. sure beats using floppies. but i wouldnt invest that much money into them. it'll go bad and you'll be kicking yourself cause you spent so much on it.
