my chocie to go with 2500 over 4000

I JUST CHECKED OUT THE 4000 FORUM THEY GOING BACK AND FOURTH ABOUT HOW MUCH POWER THE 4000 HAS WHICH IS TRUE,BUT ITS SO POWERFUL WHEN I TRIED IT I COULD BARELY FIGURE OUT HOW TO TURN IT ON LET ALONE MAKE A BEAT WITH IT(AND IVE USED MANY PIECES OF PRO EQUIP). I HAVE 2 KEYBOARD THAT HAVE ALL THE SOUNDS AND MULTI'S I NEED, SO ALOT OF THE FEATURE WERE OVER KILL TO ME. THE 10 OUTS STANDARD ON THE 25 IS A BIG PLUS TOO. 1 GUY MADE THE COMMENT THAT 512 VS 128 MB SAYS IT ALL, BUT WOW IF I NEED MORE MEIGS THAN 128 I SHOULD GO BACK TO DJ ING IF IM SAMPLING WHOLE ALBUMS AND PLAYING THEM BACK(KEEP SCHOOLING JEROME)

if you dont appreciate the features of the 4000 then maybe you dont need it. it is certainly a beast compared to the other MPC's and it has tools that may help take your beatmaking skills up a level or two in some areas.

like any piece of hardware, you wont get the best out of it until you know how to use it and there lies a potential problem with the 4000.

many cats freak out when they realise its not the same as the 2000/XL and they'll need to start reading manuals again and go back to being a NEWBIE for a while.

if you dont wanna get to technical with your hardware, forget the 4000

i would choose "writing everything without capslock" over "WRITING EVERYTHING WITH CAPSLOCK"



seriously though, i haven't tried none of the above but the 2500 seems more interesting to me too. i like simplicity and a unit with a little longer life than the 4000 (the are probably not releasing more than 1 update to the os). especially if you have other gear to work with, the 4000 seems more suiting as a standalone workstation. direct record into the 2500 seems dope, it would give me a nice workflow.

thanks for the advice, with my work laptop i have to do it that way, so its habbit but i will change my ways for this forum thnx

Well, If I had to sell one of mine, the 2500 would have to go. People who have who never took the time to use the 4000 and learn what its all about tend to diss it often. Its definitly diffrent then the 2500 in terms of use, but once you undertand about programs and multis, how to load them and use them in the seq, its really not much diffrent as far as the seqencing goes.

If you have a larger studio such as othe midi gear you want to use and need a real sampler then the 400 is it. None better, but if your just using a laptop it would be over kill.

My 4000 in the center of a much larger studio. I have other gear that it controls and is the heart.

My 2500 is for my home use and use it with a laptop to get quick ideas down, before I goto the main studio.

They are both pro but one is open for much a bigger picture.

no doubt the 4000 has great features but as far as increasing beat making skills for me i found that its more about what it your head than whats in your hands so the quicker and more simply i can lay something down the higher my level of production will be, because aggrevation just kills my motivation everytime

someone mentioned the 512mb v the 128mb.....has anyone ran out of room when they had the 128mb installed?

i hear what you saying. ive only had the 2500 for a few months and not controlling anything with it yet, but i have a triton studio and a kurzweil keyboard in my studio so when its time to get thick with the layering and multi samps im equipt, the sound library for the kurweil keyboard is sick. its some local cats here getting some play who have access to some big digs, protools, 4000,100thou dollars boards and the product is still just ok. so you can do a round off summersult to get over a puddle of water or walk around it. were all trying to get to the same place great music

I have both machines and no, I have not run out of memory on my 128 meg 2500. You aren't trying to load a full multisampled piano or string ensemble on it so you don't need that much memory. I'm doing loops and drum/fx hits mainly on my 2500.

yes but that's only because i work on lots of beats at the same time in the same machine.

You really just have to choose the MPC that fits your needs. There is no right or wrong..which catz up here will having you believe.

No you don't need a full featured sampler. And no, you don't need chop shop or audio CD burning. And you certainly don't need a machine that claims it can do it all.

Get yourself a quality MPC (only one doesn't fit the term quality ) and create some hot ish...

End of story. The 2500 will do. The local cats should just worry about making music most importantly with what you have and adjust to what your studio accomodates. If the 4000 is that important, get rid of the 2500. Now! Like jahrome said "You really just have to choose the MPC that fits your needs."
