getting beats on the computer

I have a mpc 2000xl withthe eight outs and i am just wondering how do i get my beats in stereo on my computer.. I have a digital, and a mic input.. i need these beats to come into my computer with quality.. Does anybody know any god mixer that converts analog to digital? and then a easy free software to master?

First of all just google the free mastering software.Get yourself some good moniters since you want ''quality''.To get your beats into the computer the non-bootleg way get an audio interface.So I'll give you a link to good audio interfaces and mixers to get an idea of price and what you're looking for.

well if you have a mixer then your 8 outs will go into the mixer. then from the mixer, send one of your outs to your soundcard input...of course you'll probably have 2 outputs on the back of your mixer instead of just one...

so this is how i have mine setup.

my mixers Tape Out into soundcard Input
soundcard Output into mixer Tape In
mixer control room Output L/R to monitors L/R

the tape out is sending the audio into my computer where i can record or whatever.
the soundcard out into my Tape In is bringing the audio back into the mixer and out through my monitors..

What is the "bootleg" way? lol.

Mr. Tracktastic, the 8outs have digital out on the back of it as well, it's off the side, look for it, can that connect with your digital in on your computer? If so, then you have a digital connection. Are you SURE your computer has a digital in coax? Digital coax looks JUST like rca plugs.

And the Digital outs on your 8out board look JUST like rca plugs.

Just get a soundcard/audio interface with a digital in.

Digital is VERY good quality on damn near any soundcard you get.
Some elitist will argue that but it's STILL true.

When I FIRST built my compute I had a sound blaster audigy platinum.
It had an optical in, none of my gear had an optical in.

When I got the triton extreme I noticed it had an optical out, I tested and used it, it was AMAZING. Even though EVERYWHERE I read soundblasters were shyt and weak, the optical difference was OUTSTANDING. The same willhold true with your digital in (I know, I've walked a few people through it on their soundcards and pc that had digital coax in and one dude that had 4k adat optical out - which is just LOVELY btw). Get a semi cheap card with digital in to get you going, the clarity will be great and you might wanna just keep that. Also see if you can take the card back if you don't like it. I think you will though whatever card you get for digital.

Now I use triton optical out to digi001 optical in, I'll never go back to analog if I can help it.

thanx lampdog thats great advise.. i had this mpc now for three years and did not even know about this digital out.. .damn.. . .. anyway.. my digi in and out on the back lloks like a jack input like the other 8. the jack also fits in it. my digital in on the computer (which i am not sure if it actually digital now) looks like a 1/4 jack in put... . anyway i am thinking of getting a second hand mbox and then i will record via usb. so, my question is.. can the digi in out also look like jack input output..

The ''bootleg way'' is the way I do it without an interface and bad quality . Thats another reason why I like harware.

ok i need quality i am newly signed to tress records so i need to get these beats sounding damn good. .. but i have no cash for a good firewire interface which is a straight up biatch. . So i would like a interface with preferably 8 analog ins but one with six or four will do as well.. . anybody know some that are good?? that comes with mastering software.. o yeah no emu..

You didn't read what I said about the sound blaster audigy platinum did you? I had NO audio interface at that time. Tracks STILL came out better than good. Not having an audio interface is NOT the end of the home recording world as most people would have you believe.
