man - you should know this from the manual - put all your sequences in the song mode (sequence 1, sequence 2, etc..) then convert song to a sequence - resample the song on record mode - change from analog to main out - and transfer the wav file to your computer via usb...then you can convert your song to mp3 format - just search the net for some freeware and you'll be all set

i never heard you can transfer your whole song via usb?

By ziggyproductions05 Tue Aug 08, 2006 4:13 am
well you save the file to your memory card - then transfer the file from the card to the comp via usb

yeah but wont the file be an sfk or something? how do you change it into a wav? By just renaming it or some other way.

And how is the soud quality? Anyone test this?

there are 2 way:

1. record the song from the audio outputs to your pc with an audio-recording program.

2. resample the whole song inside the mpc, save it as one big .wav file (sample) on your mpc and move it to your pc via usb. thats what ziggy tried to explain.

the first one is a classic. that's the way all audio is recorded from keyboards, guitars microphones etc.
the second one was new to me. but now as i think about it, it's a good option too. check your manual.

i don't know, but i'm sure if you take 5 minutes to check your manual i'm sure you will find an answer.

I dono about the second way, it seems like you might have serious mixing issues.

By ucacjbs Tue Aug 08, 2006 3:32 pm
Err, the first and second way should have (very close to) the same results; in the first way you connect your main outs to the inputs of your PC's sound card, and record via those A-D converters.

In the second way, you are recording the same main out signal, but staying in the MPC, without an extra D-A/A-D step.

In both cases, you're recording the stereo mix that you hear from the main outputs.

Now, if you go 'one sample at a time' from your MPC to the computer (e.g. kick, then snare, then hats and so on), then you'll have separate audio signals that you can then mix on the pc if you have suitable software.

i've ran into problems where i convert a whole song to a sequence in song mode and it messes up the tracks that i have muted in the different sequence.

either record it through your sound card into a recording program or get a digital recorder of some sort.

that should do it.

YOU didn't line your tracks up correctly to begin with, I've mentioned that at least 4 times in the past week in different threads, do a search and get it right big dog. It's not the machine that "messes" that up.

Dammit people, :D don't you read manuals?

CommanderRobot
and
ucacjbs

..are the only ones that seem to have read and understood the manual.

"i never heard you can transfer your whole song via usb?"
You never read the manual either, never searched on this forum either, never knew the capabilities of your machine and used your imagination either have you?

"yeah but wont the file be an sfk or something?"
WTF is an SFK going to do on the mpc1k? No, it won't be an SFK.

"it seems like you might have serious mixing issues."
No, you won't.

"but how do i change from analog to main out? "
What do you mean change? Main out IS analog.

i wonder why everyone seems to believe the MPC has some magical
way of doing everything ....
3/4ths of the questions on this site are covered IN DETAIL
in the manual ..
i understand wanting the opinion of your peers and in some cases
studio experts ... but cumon' fellas / ladies play with your equipment
push every button turn every knob...instead of begging around lookin' for someone to give you the answer ... read up on it .. research it ...
the MPC is one of the most user friendly pieces of equipment ive ever used
((and ive used quite a few)) if you have problems figuering it out
maybe your in the wrong game

not tryn to flame .. but i was lookin around found the same question just worded a bit different .. cumon peeps

I strongly cosign on this. As far as creating sequences and tracks, almost everything I've learned on the MPC came from just trying something and seeing what it does. The manual comes in handy for the more 'housekeeping' stuff like how to save various data types, the effects chain architecture and all that good stuff. But almost everything can be figured out by an inquisitive mind.

Remember this: You're not going to break your MPC by using any of the functions on its menus.

With the sole exception of MISC/OS/Self-Destruct, that is.

i wasn't asking for advice.

unlike most, I DO read the manual.
