northern soul?

yeah i can feel that^^......
i picked up a James brown 45 getup,getin to it, get involved for 5 bucks
an OG copy .to me that's worth more then any of the northern soul records i picked up from this dealer.i mean i dont care about price on records if it's something i want , then I'll pay it but , what gets me is that this is ridiculous that prices for some of these, are they really that scares that there worth that much?

I agree, I am no collector. I buy shit that I think I could use in my music. But i guess its like anything that is "Rare" something that existed for a short time and no longer is produced or made. People get freaky on shit like that. Northern Soul, Funk I figure to be the rarest in terms of records. Besides classical (check out some of the classical vinyl on ebay.. they go for xxx,xxx$$'s) Kinda weird tho. I wonder if these collectors are into it because they actually like the music.. I bet its more a money thing. Its rare, Its valuable.. it sells. All i know is if i paid 600$ for a 45. I would listen to it over and over until my ears bleed. I have done some stupid shit and spent like 50-100$ on weird records i have found at shows. Oddball spoken word stuff... Some italo disco goes for insane prices on the 'bay. Also some chicago house and detroit techno. Not in northern soul territory, but I bought a drexciya double disc used for $8, then a few months later found out that it sells for anywhere between $60 and $120.

.......And it's always detroit and chicago isn't it, whether it's soul, rock n' roll, or house and techno ---- it's always detroit and chicago

yeah i got some records i paid upwards into the 100 for one record house/ techno, actually those records have always been high priced anyways because in the 80's there was alot of shi+ going down w ith labels stiffin the artist so they went over sea's to put it out , and when we here in the states went to buy it it was jacked up as an import and they jaut had insane prices.....there again artist from goin overseas to the UK, the US sucks man they dont want people listen to certain music and they just want to have control over everything .

all funktified those are more of the popular cross over artist but really man , no disrespect to you but ....have you really heard some of the stuff ...i mean the more underground , Brazilian shi+ man that breaks on some those records can get really funky.

sure there's no low end on them cause most of the records are 45's but it's funky for realz.

i'm just trying to see what the craze is about the records and why the cost so much ,i posted this up on another forum to see what people say but it's all the same no one can come up with a answer to my question why is it so sought after and why would they rename a genre that already existed.
one person just said that it's a way to attract the new generation ......i guess.

Northern Soul is big with the mods and scooter boys (Lambretta and Vespa) here in the UK. Some of the most uplifting music ever made. Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) by Frank Wilson - one of the best things ever commited to vinyl.
