I finally got my shelves together from IKEA:

I decided to use steel dowel rods instead of the wooden dowels to support the weight of the records on each shelf.
I also turned it on it's side so the long inside planks run left to right instead of up/down so it will add more strength to it.

Yeah Juke, that does look nice. The wooden dowel rods probably would eventually give out with that weight so it's good you used steel ones. I'm using regular milk crates and I bought some crates at Staples and Wal-Mart but I would rather have a shelving like that eventually.

Where can I buy those plastic sleeves at online to protect the whole record? You know those oversized baseball card plastics..

Doesn't make sense.
You can buy record crates for like $3 at places like Dollar General and Family Dollar so why steal?

because there's risk involved ....whats the fun about buying them , you can use that money to buy more records

Yeah, thanks dj e.d.e.-
They recieved a nice order from me Sunday. It's gonna be nice to clean some of my vinyl and tuck 'em away safely in sleeves. Diggin' is my release from work-and while I'm only looking in the dollar bin, there's alot of nice stuff to be found. Now I can take care of that good stuff the right way.

It's supposed to hold 500 records and it looks decent. But the price is ridiculous in british sterling let alone dollars.

Damn..that's a little high.

I been meaning to look into those ikea shelves more, just don't have the room for the whole setup.

Is it possible to set it up to have 3 columns instead of the whole 5?

those ikea jobs come in 2, 4 and 5 column sizes.

my girl has one of the 2 column ones put on its side, so its like 20 rows high and 4 columns wide.
