Question on time shifting

what is the purpose of time shifting & does anyone use it? is that the trick JD uses for his hi-hats?

Are you talking about quantising and swing? Lots of threads about this already, do a search (no beef intended)

Unless I'm mistaken Jay Dilla (at least a lot of the time), plays without swing and quantise to get that detroit sound.

If it was just curiousity... then yes, u can use it to do exactly that.
But max lifo is correct too... i also record my hihats without quantize.

Without Quantize is EVEN better with the 4k, you've got the 960PPQ to let you add your personal swing all OVER the place

i admire Jay Dee- he's one of my favorite producers. and i had my time of studying his style. but i got my own.
