Are you talking about quantising and swing? Lots of threads about this already, do a search (no beef intended) ;)

Unless I'm mistaken Jay Dilla (at least a lot of the time), plays without swing and quantise to get that detroit sound.

so that's why u wanna use it? The man died... Give him some respect... If u only want to know so u can get JAY DEE hihats.... Throw ur mpc in the garbage can... it's not for u.....

If it was just curiousity... then yes, u can use it to do exactly that.
But max lifo is correct too... i also record my hihats without quantize.

Without Quantize is EVEN better with the 4k, you've got the 960PPQ to let you add your personal swing all OVER the place ;)

Cheers,
Dave

I hope you are aware that JD is one of thousands of a "Detroit Sound".

JD might be your Detroit Sound, but James Stinson is mine... rest in peace Drexciya...

HaHa, thats a pretty funny response. Damn, the dude only asked a simple question so what are you so emotional about? And I'm sure that he'll throw his MPC in the can.

I see this dude overreacting all the time. JD was a great producer no doubt but just because he died doesnt mean you cant speak of him or something.
