Broken MP1000..

i cant get samples from the card onto the mp, nor can i get them thru the usb cor d. what is happening?

I would guess that either

(a) Your CF card is bad (do you have a separate CF reader to try with the PC?)

(b) The CF slot on your MPC is somehow messed up. Open the box and check to see if you have any bent pins on the connector. Another person reported that there's a cable that connects the CF connection plug to the mainboard, and that can come loose. If it's loose, try reconnecting it.

i think i might have messed up the card, can i format it to get it to work again?

you know, i did, and the sample names come up but when i try to play them its just a click sound. the usb port doesnt want to cooperate either. it wont show up on my computer. i cant get any of my samples on this machine.

also, can i sample straight into the MP?

Hi to all,

Just have the same probleme. As the USB is "slave" to CF reader this kind of trouble is clearly related to CF reader.
I can't read or store anything with my CF reader.
I can't tranfert anything thru USB
so ..........

the CF reader is obviously DEAD.

I read somewhere else that some MPC1k are made in china and componment are "cheap but unsure".

I return my MPC1k to Algam France (french importateur) last week but "closed for holidays until 24th of August

so................

I HAD TO WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION

I just intalled OS 3.01 just before it crash and as i cannot read thru CF reader nor USB i send my MPC with the "non" AKAI OS.
I wonder if the garanty is still available with Akai gears with non AKAI OS....................

nope installing the third party OS voids you warranty.

Does it really? Where does it say so? I don't have the warranty card for my 1K, but the only warranty in the manual concerns protecting AKAI from any responsibility for goof-ups in their software and manual.

For all those having issues with your CF cards - have you had a chance to try the cards in a separate reader (other than the MPC's)?

did you ever look and see if your pin was bent? happened to me and i fixed it
