Installing a card reader

What up people

A buddy of mine has a 2000XL comin his way in the mail and hes going to install a card reader. The mpc already has a zip drive in it and i was not 100 percent but i was pretty sure you had to modify the power cable for the zip drive to and that he wouldnt need to modify it anymore to install the card reader? Is this correct or was i just talkin out my ass by assuming that

Internal zip drive on 2kxl to internal cf reader needs no power cable modification, that mod was done back when the zip drive was installed, so now he can use that same cable and jumper setting that is on the zip drive, no more modding necessary.

I figured so because i knew that zip drives use a standard power connector so i figured itd be good to go since the zip is already in.
