haha funny you post that. i just spoke with nick from vst yesterday. real cool cat. that $1250 one is not maxed out though. i'd get the $1499 with maxed out memory and 8 outs.

he said that they just lowered the prices. the 2kxl maxed out was around $1700 or something. since they are an akai dealer they can order them anytime. i don't know what you meant by "last batch".

i'll probably be getting the maxed out one very soon.

i did think about that as i do like the look of the grey body better but i don't want to take the risk and worry about getting a beat up one on ebay not to mention waiting and bidding for it.

i will sacrafice getting a grey body (not really a bid deal for me) to get a brand new one with all new everything. you can't beat brand new.

if the used one was beat up i would have to ship it to vst (both ways), pay for repairs and the worst part of all wait for all that to happen.

for someone on a budget, second hand is the way to go. luckily for me i just got a promotion at work so i will be getting the new 2kxl mcd from vst. now i just need to save for the eb16 effects board.

thanks for the tip poast :D

I loving the feel of the 2kxl too but since i bought a 1k it feels quite outdated. I'm thinking of selling my 2kxl and eventually trade my 1k for a 2500 because the feel of the 1k is not very good. And i want the feel of the 2000xl and the technical part of the 1k, so the 2500 is my choice.
It's gonna be hard to sell my 2000xl though, it's my favourite mpc so far.
