Getting the eb16 tomorrow

I made a deal with some dude. He wanted to trade my 8 out card for his eb 16. I can't use the 8 outs since i don't have a 8 in on my soundcard. And i don't use a hardware mixer (only for monitoring).
And since i don't have money too buy a new soundcard or adat interface for a while, i thought letts trade.

So now i will get the eb 16 tomorrow, i'm pretty curious to how the fx will sound (some say shitty, some say alright... let me see)

You gettting any cash with the trade? The 8 outs usually go for more than the effects card. But ne ways enjoy your new toy.

The eb 16 is cool. Some of the FX are a bit old and cheap sounding but some are really useful. I like the ring modulator a lot and the distortion's cool . The delay is useful. The reverb's pretty cheap and nasty but can work well if used carefully. The eq is not really an eq. More like a collection of filters than an eq. Again it's good for some things.

One thing I really like is that in the modulation section you can put an LFO on the MPC's low pass filter. Cool on Bass. I also like the way the insert sends are parallell as opposed to serial which means that you can turn down the dry signal and be left with just the effected signal

It's defo not a one stop shop as regards effects but it's good fun and can be helpful creatively.

yeah, i thought so and i will still use the mpc in conjunction with nuendo. (battery for the drums and then resample them into my mpc for a fuller sound.) I wanted the eb 16 for when i go to a friends place or party, this way i have fx all the time.

And for The Last One Standing, a 2nd hand eb 16 card is €150,- in the netherlands, a 8 outs card is €150,- too... (plus i don't have the origonal akai's but a mutec board). So no loss here...

i got it! damn, i don't know what all the bitchin is about, this is a nice card! I think it's mainly the people who are able to affort eventide and lexicon fx who say this card sounds bad.... i can't afford those (wish i could though), and i think it will fit my needs!

Its good at what its meant for... an effects card for a 16bit drum machine. Sure, you don't want to run a main vocal through it (shouldn't be doing that on the MPC anyway), but even on critical things, its nice for at least auditioning an effect when composing, then you can add your quality effects in post. Can help you mangle sounds if you are into that too. The best value is if you use it live as it is good enough for that purpse and saves you bringing out a few effects boards, cables and set up time.

I used to use the reverse reverb alot. Works nice on single drum hits. Especially if they sound like they cut off too soon.

That's what i want to to do with it. Audition and put more quality vst fx on it later, when mixing the track.
I heard the card is hard to use too...? I haven't had any problems with it... mastered it already.
