??Best way to avoid CF bug??

Just trying to get a little feedback on the best way around the CF bug where the samples don't load to the program(File not found).I have done a search on the matter and haven't found any concrete ways to avoid this.
Anyone?

maybe there isn't one yet. just be sure to save to a new folder each time you save. a lot of people are also saying don't overwrite anything. and save and backup to your computer often.

First of all thanks for the feedback. Ok........so what your saying is that if I work on a project I need to save to a new file.....then if I work on the same project later and change some things,I need to save it to a new file again?I guess at that point I should go back to the original file and erase it so that I don't end up with a bunch of files I'm not going to use. Wow, this seems really tedious. I guess whatever it takes.

I have also experienced a file that will load fine in the 2500 but the when I try to open it on the pc it says that the file is corrupt.This CF bug is really stupid.

Did anyone try the following? In my case it seems to work so far... :

1.First of all get rid of all preloaded SEQs and PRGs by erasing them. Do this via the corresponding PRG/SEQ windows and press delete "all".
Now the MPC should be empty, without the annoying Demo SEQs and Demo PRGs. Have in mind that your own creations will be lost, too. Use "Purge" in
the PGM-window to erase all samples out of the memory.

2. Go to the "Save" window and "save entire memory". When asked give it a name like "Allempty" etc. then hit the "auto" button .and proceed.
Now you have created an "All empty"-Project.
This in particular might be nothing new to you guys but if the machine starts to
mess up everything, load this "Auto" thingie and everything strange should be gone... (of course, try to save your work separately in a NEW folder before...watch the following.)
Switch the unit off and on, wait for the preload process to be finished and then load this "All empty"-folder. No Files -corrupted or not- are in the memory right now. Check it again by using "Purge"

3. Start your work, create SEQs and PRGs. and load samples.

4. When you want to save your work, again, save the whole thing as "save entire memory". But save this to a NEW folder. To avoid huge data, you should do "Purge" before

5.Next time you turn on the machine, first of all, load your auto-allempty-project first and then afterwards your desired folder with your work in it (previously also saved as a project(saved entire memory)
Highlight just the folder without opening it and hit load .

Once again, no guarantee !!!! in my case it seems to work so far....

Generally spoken, this bug is totally unacceptable and it should not be to us to waste our time to find out a workaround for that. Its a basic feature and has to work from the very first OS version.

We really should enforce our pressure on the akai programmers to fix it. Im thinking about that, you´ll hear from me soon, I´m really pissed off.

I use a harddisk , don't know if it has the problem too, but i picked up a routine when i was working with the mpc1000 (witch also had a problem with bad saves).
When i load a track and add some stuff to it and then save, i just go to the folder of the track , press rename , then copy the name (this way i don't have to type it , i'm lazy ) , delete the folder , create new folder and press paste for the name , then save entire memory and give it the same name as the folder(again just paste).
It may look like a lot of work when you just wanna save your track , but it becomes a routine and gets really fast.

Your copy/paste procedure for the folders works fine for renaming them.

Help me, maybe you mean the key is to delete the folder with your stuff in it before creating a new empty one? With the old name pasted, if you want, in which you create all that "save entire memory" stuff

But most of the time my things are created by using many many different files from different locations......
I don´t think deleting a folder youve been working on is really necessary.
I think "save entire memory" to a NEW folder everytime you want to save something is the way by now.
Pressing "Purge" in the PGM window helps to get rid off unused samples. Added w. the feature of renaming it w. the old name for your comfort by copy/paste. Perhaps with a date/nr. added for having different versions.

yeah , i delete the folder so i don't end up with the same track in 2 different folders.
Hmm.. must have not read that all too good , i thought it was about saving songs.

YES, IT IS about saving !!!!
But we are discussing here the best workaround to save in a proper way, because the MPC OS is buggy in that way....
didnt you have these problems so far (lucky guy): ?

-MPC doesnt refind samples
-"Directory Error"
-"File not found"

and things like that....
so if you never had probs like these, PLEEEEEEZ tell us how
you save then..........
-> its a problem of the OS and should be fixed by Akai, but theyre
too slow and we all need to work with the machine right now, thats why
we are here in this..... <-

Well , like i said , i picked up this routine on my mpc1000 and have never lost anything since then.
I explained it in my previous post.

Oh and for programs , i allways save them in a seperate folder with the samples and when i want to load the program , i just load the entire folder.

So I guess what your saying is save all data independently? i.e. save programs by themselves (with samples) sequence data by itself...etc.Right?

ALWAYS MAKE A NEW FOLDER BEFORE SAVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... I forgot to do this last night and lost one of the best songs i've ever made....i won't do it again....remember kids now always make a new folder before saving....come on say it with me now ....always make a new folder before saving.....yeahhh...now all together real loud AKAI SUCKS ...WWWHHHOOAAA
