converting 2000xlmcd beats to 2500

I owned a modified-to multi card drive 2000xl and I ran into a whole bunch of issues converting beats over from it to my new 2500. I originally ran into many more problems before some of the OS upgrades were released because the 2500 would only read the fist 4 letters/numbers of any files saved in the 2000xl. So as you can immagine, if you name all your sounds something like cool bass1, cool bass2 etc the 2500 would only see a bunch of files named cool-----and would not open any cuz it tought they wee all the same. Well they fixed that but now, even though all the mixer settings transfer over, my beats all sound WAY different. I can't even mess with them to get them to sound similar. Ive even loaded up a beat on both machines at the same time to see if I did something wrong saving the beat and nothing.
Does anyone know of a way to completely convert these beats over. I sold my 2000xl to a friend to replace it with a 2500 thinking I could continue to work on all my older beats with it. I would prefer not to have to borrow my older XL to access my older beats. Anything please could help....

I recently bought a 1000 and converted all my 2kxl beats to it. I'm guessing the 2500 works the same way. The only way I think you can do it is saving all your beats with pgm and midisequences because my 1000 didnt read the .all files from my 2kxl.
And then i loaded all the programs into the correct track and loaded the midifiles, and rebuilt the beats that way with the 2kxl on the right hand on 1k on the left. You should borrow your friends 2kxl in other words.
The mixer settings had to be set again. also... it's a pain in the ass but it had to be done, and feels really good afterwards.

Did you make the beats on the 2000xl using the ZONE chopping function?

If so thats a pain as the 2500 doesnt recognise the release sections on the samples from 2000xl programs that used the Zone function.

If this is the problem let me know cos ive found a formula for sorting this out but its in my studio.. ill post it up if needed.

Well, I used to own that 2kxl for many years (until recently) and I tried to do the conversions with both units(2kxl and 2500)side by side opening the beats on both units simultaniously. I only saved the beats as .mid and .pgm files so I can open them up and do all of the progam assignments on the tracks but they still sound different. In the mixer window it shows me all of the original mix settings but even playing with that doesn't seem to make a difference, it's like some of the samples just sound completely different..As far as using the zone chopping fucntion, I'm not sure and I'll have to check that. Honestly without having my MPC in front of me, I'm not sure what the Zone chopping function is and how it's different from the conventional edit function.

I made a few of my older beats(on 2kxl) using some EMU sounds that would play as long as I had the pad pressed, like having a sustain pedal, and those sounds will not automatically sustain on the 2500 and their pitch seems to be much higher.
Any ideas?

That sounds a bit strange, have you got the Program set to Polyphonic?
(Top right on program page) Cos mine always loads up from 2kxl as mono, & I have to change it to poly on 2500 otherwise it sounds like a one handed drummer!
