What a find! Wow.

My sister works for the local BBC radio station and gave me a call to say they were THROWING OUT vinyl! I went down there that night and copped this lot:



The ones on the right are just random charity shop crap (with some good samples) and there was a Biz Markie produced LP in there too. The stuff on the left is where it gets special. They're all official BBC sound effects 7"s from the 60's and 70's! There are some in there with real spacey sound effects that were obviously made by the BBC radiophonic workshop, who are widely regarded worldwide as pioneers of sampling and electronic music composition. Not only are they interesting to listen to and sample, they must be worth a fair amount and they're all in mint condition.

One of the records in the 12"s had a note to the late great BBC radio presenter legend John Peel, which was quite cool.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you as I couldn't quite believe it. Apologies for the shoddy picture I took with my camera phone.

DBZ posted the documentary on here a wile back. Big download, but it's WELL worth a watch for anyone into making music and/or learning about early compositional techniques. Really fascinating to see how those guys came up with new sounds and invented their own crazy instruments on a low budget.

did yuo get any of the bbc l.ps in that lot as well??
playschool-bang on a drum has got a good break and there's a couple of lps that have the liver birds theme on as well which also has a nice break

right on max take that shi+ and go hide somehwere before they come back for you ...i know they gave them to you . but still thats part of bbc history. man that's a great find i would love to just have one of those records . that was some dope ass shi+all done on analog equipment none of this digital stuff. better buy some plastics and bag em up so they don't get messed up that worth some money there, if not to your country but to some ambient freaks out here in the US.

Cool Man, I had this same experience with some CBC(canadian brodcasting corporation) records. All the music and sound effects for their old radio plays. The box at the garage sale said"priceless records" 10 bucks for the whole box. It was all gold. And you know nobody is gonna have those records they were all 78's.
