Changing Pitch but not Tempo...???

HI!!

I'm mpc retarded... its really sad concidering im a musician... i've been trying to chang the pitch of my samples without changing tempo of the sample... anyone know how to do this!? bet its some "one button" crap i've totally overlooked... HELP!

It's in the TRIM screen. Go to TRIM and select the sample you want to edit. Press the F-key for EDIT, then cycle through the options until you find PITCH SHIFT.

This is a question that can be answered very easily with the manual. I would recommend reading up. If you don't have a manual go to the following link and download it. Read it on the shitter, or read it whenever, but definately read it, you will learn how to do things that you didn't think were possible.

i used the manual and i tried to do what you said but no luck... guess women and eletronics really dont mix huh!?

maybe try the old way :

1 ) record your pitched sample (by puting the right pitch in the program mode, then going in record mode)

2) go there http://mp3.deepsound.net/eng/samples_calculs.php

fill the "To know the new tempo of a sample after pitch-shifting it"

with the pitch value at his primary bpm will give you the new tempo

3 ) timestrecht it to your original tempo.

do you have 2.1? if not, you will need that.

not to sound dumb but ...2.1??? what is that?? this whole mpc ish is kinda new to me....

you need the 2.1 os.

2.1 is referring to the latest operating system that AKAI released for the MPC. An operating system is basically the software that runs the MPC. Most likely, if you could not see the PITCH SHIFT option in the TRIM--> EDIT screen that I described above, then you need to install the new operating system.... it will give you a bunch of new features, pitch shift being one of them.

If you look under the MPC 1000 section (top left of the page) you will see first, the instructions on how to install the new OS 2.1, second you will see the actual OS file you need to download, and third you will see the "release notes" which will tell you what new features were added.

There is a way to check which operating system you currently have installed, but I am not in fron of my MPC right now, so I can't remember, I think maybe it is in the OTHER screen somewhere [MODE] + [PAD 10], I think?

if you install it and the screen goes blank, just hold down shift and turn the data wheel. its just your contrast.

For some reason when I Pitch shift it does fluck with my tempo....the sample becomes outta sync.
